Oh man.

Lutheran North Head Coach Kyle Wagner heard the talk and reminded his team the week before a semifinal matchup in the Missouri Class 4 state tournament that their opponent, the defending state champion Kearney Bulldogs, supposedly had the best defense in the state.

Wagner urged his team to prove that Lutheran North’s defense was better on the field. They looked forward to this potential matchup with the undefeated, defending state champs throughout a season with just one loss.

“We heard all year about Kearney’s defense, nobody really talked about our defense,” Wagner said.

By population density no they don’t. It’s not the same or schools like Valle and other small rural private schools would be having the same amount of success. You could also had schools in Green, Cole and Boone County.
They can get kids from anywhere. Just like the metro schools. Valle and SV both have 'medium' sized public schools in the same town that mostly struggle. The talent is siphoned.

I noticed some Illinois tags in the Adrian parking lot yesterday. Surely there weren't kids from14 miles up the road from Perryville driving over.

Put them in their own divisions and let them have at it.

It's all a joke. They either need to rework champ factor where they can all max at C6 or imo just go be in 1 class by themselves
Or just do what states like Mississippi and Tennessee have......................but perhaps that makes too much sense? NOW in saying that I actually really enjoyed watching to see how Kearney would fare against this all star team turned out to be a great one.

I prefer Texas' system but the one clear conclusion missouri needs to do better

A team that recruits well can beat any school with an enrollment of 22. If it's the right 22 kids. It's not a level playing field and never will be until they seperate them
LN will stay in C4 for a long time if they don’t get shut down or somehow co-op with a school. Honestly they’re is 3 schools who could stop LN success in C4 is Kearney, Smithville or Hillsboro if they’re at their best

I prefer that it’s time to separate Public Private soon, it’s not even missouri either, Illionis and other states having the same issues.

Private schools has the upper advantages over public schools any day. They Recruit from in-state to out of state. Private schools also have advantage since they most have one way players but like Class 1, 2 3 and some Class 4 schools have 2-Way players.

I say if MSHSAA doesn’t do anything just ship the private school football teams over to illionis and let them deal with it.

Yesterday was a classic case of a top team, never mind if public or private, getting out of jail for free the week before vs. their former QB. Those virtually always play far better the next game.

Yeah it is looking like 4 is max for LN fine so be it. Kearney really didn't play near its best game yesterday and still had a shot at the end. You did bring up a couple of others I am not sure about Hillsboro they were about those special brothers both now done with HSFB. Jury is out on Smithville. The Warriors had to replace lots of skill talent from the prior two stellar years and their elite HC moved on. Watch numbers and performance the next two years. Very, very tough to try to replace a once in a generation HC like Ambroson.

SB 1051 is the solution to every point you make in this post!!! It takes effect 7-1-25!!!
It levels the playing field and allows public schools to do everything a private school can do.
It will also allow MSHSAA to do away with the success factor.

Last I heard it was just through select committee not all the way passed and not signed by governor. Still many hurdles. Maybe that's changed but I have seen nothing.

I am against SB 1051, even with Open enrollment I think it won’t level the playing field. I think the level of competition will go down not up!!!

Just say schools around Lamar have students transferring from Lamar to go to other schools to win starting jobs for football, vice versa a student who is the best player for a horrible team but want to transfer to Lamar because of their championship success. I honestly think it would make the schools who loose students in open enrollment but don’t gain open enrollment students will make their sports programs go downhill
