Odessa is open

No we need to ride the world of that weakness and teach these kids the hard work it takes to win not only in school but once they leave it. Hell where I work we keep about 1 out of 10 if the birth year is 95 or up.
They simply don't have the drive to wake up and do the jobs asked of them and get critiqued on the performance
100 percent what has started to happen in Webb. They are told by councilors that everytime they get feelings hurt to come in and they will fix it for them......not i am going to help you figure a way to work through it. They are soft and nothing is working for. They get benched....they quit the next year.

What does Odessa bring to the table for a coach? Do they have any privates pulling lids from them or anythingike that?

Yeah this new generation doesn't like being told the truth and mommy and daddy let em quit when their feelings get hurt
It's not just the kids getting their feelings hurt that he is talking about. I've heard many stories of how he treats adults as well...not great stuff but that doesn't take away from his football knowledge/coaching abilities, just means I don't care to ever meet the guy

Sometimes parents need to be told to stay in their lane as well though. There is an area for open dialogue however most parents take things personal and or overstep much more than a coach does.

I wasn't talking about how he treats parents cause I do agree that they need to be informed of their actual role at times.

Did their crop of really good freshmen wrestlers last year play football? If so, that should help in the next couple of years on the football field.
I think some did but Odessa has really turned into a premier wrestling school. Which might actually hinder the football program as so many kids are sticking to one sport these days

Very true, their wrestling team has been really good and getting better. I think they had several freshmen medal last year which is scary for the next few years.

Kearney made that work but many dont. Neosho had a great program but never transfered over to football. Seneca was great but bad at football. Not sure if this years team is full of wrestlers or not. Ours is one of the worst in the state.

Mark is a old school football coach yeah that might not work for some people but his results can't be disputed. Mark creates tough young men and at the end of the day some can't take it. If you ask some of the 02-03 crew from Kearney now they would give him a lot of credit for their success in life.
