Ozone has been putting out their previews as if everything is normal. Reading through some of these makes me sad for these kids especially the seniors knowing that it seems unlikely the season will play through to entirety, if even at all. But who knows.

I didn’t see one listed for Republic or Branson but here are the others:

The little bit of street info I’ve got… some friends from WC mentioned they may have one of the best rosters ever. Haven’t really heard much from Carthage. Only thing I’ve heard about CJ is really, really low numbers although that contradicts the article. Haven’t heard anything about Joplin. Will be interesting to see if they continue to be good after last year’s graduation. I’m also interested to see what direction Nixa goes with the new coach. Could be one of those years where there is Webb City and then about 5 teams potentially in the running after that.

Hopefully we’ll get to find out.

Anybody in the state in any class beating Webb is going to be a tall order
Joplin's success depends mostly on how good their QB ends up being.
Carthage has 2 of the top 3 players and the most talented '23 class in the COC. If the sophs step in and are very good right away, it'll be a tall order for anyone other than Webb to take them out.
The biggest factor will be which teams have outbreaks when.

Jackson would be a great game.

I would say right now everything is a crap shoot and trying to predict the season is like trying to pick which porno actress Donald is going to sleep with next.

Yeah I kind of think so too - sadly I think this season, if it plays through completion will be thought of as just an exhibition. You may end up with whatever teams are active come post season ... some getting byes due to drawing an opponent that ends up forfeiting. So it's entirely possible that the best team won't win, but rather the luckiest team that manages to avoid covid and have the right opponents get it at the right time. But we'll see.

I know, I wake up in the morning and feel like I'm in the twilight zone. This is the time of year the juices usually start flowing and the anticipation of what the season will bring starts to build and I am jacked up by the time of opening kickoff for the season. But I am having difficulty cranking up my enthusiasm this year. I guess its because I'm not sure we will start, or finish, the season and the thought of the disappointment that would result from that just puts a damper on everything.

And the fact that the games might be played with no fans in the stands? We were talking about that and wondered what are the going to do when there are 1,000-2,000 or more fans standing around the fence is that any safer?

Who knows but some places that will happen. Carl Junction has a pretty decent view from OUTSIDE the east fencing because it's up a hill and relatively close to the field. Seems like Neosho and Monett might as well. Probably several others. Carthage does not.

Might be kind of like when they closed most of the stores...people still went, they just crowded into the one or two that was open.

Carthage and Webb!! Then everyone else. Webb’s roster may the best it has been in quite a few years. 4 starting O-Lineman back (if you count TE). When Webb returns a Line group like that they are tough to beat, hand it off and watch them go!

The Joplin Globe this morning said that CJ has 94 players.

I don't know what they had the last few years but that sounds like a very respectable number, not lacking for participation.

Really thought hearing from Webb people that they had one of their best teams ever last season. Sounds like they will be very tough to stop on offense, but I can't see how they'll have an equal or better defense than last year's since they were so good.

joplin will struggle mainly because of a green qb. webb and Carthage shouldnt have a problem with them. anything above .500 will be icing.

Even if they are down a lot from last year I find it hard to think the basement for Joplin is less than 7 wins.

Joplin is still probably the 3rd best team in the league. Who is better besides Webb and Carthage?

Hopefully this will all get settled on the field . I have my doubts but I'm hoping like hell this season goes all the way through . I watched both Webb City and Joplin's jamboree via kneo. Webb only played starters a few plays and their offense not suprisingly looked very strong . Their defense has to replace a ton so who knows there . Joplin .. played starters for the entire first two sessions and their offense looked pretty explosive. Much like last year it wouldn't surprise me if Carthage , Joplin or Webb won the league . Last year was a bad play call and a half yard away from being a 3 way tie . They all are stacked . I expect Webb and Carthage to play each other twice this year .

unless the qb improves...alot...Joplin will struggle. the defense will have to keep the game close. hes going to throw alot of ducks and picks.

I don't necessarily see Joplin posing a major threat to Webb City this year but I also don't see them going back to the "Joplin" of 5 years ago that seemed to have a knack for playing just below the level of every opponent no matter how good or bad they were.

From the little I've heard, CJ may be back in the discussion this year. If Bucky has the athletes to execute his scheme the dogs can always be a tough foe. Especially if they catch you snoozing and run some goofball play. They usually don't work against Webb defense but can sometimes be a jolt to other teams.
