CLASS 6:
Blue Springs and South are in D2. The Wildcats should cruise through it unless Francis Howell rises.
D4 (no SWMO teams this year) looks wide open, loaded, and just plain FUN. My C6 team to watch overall is Rockhurst. We will find out about them week 2 in the annual brawl with aforementioned Blue Springs.
CLASS 5:
Both districts 7 and 8 look like easy pickings for Staley and Fort Osage, my team to watch in this class. Get used to the name Ty Baker you will hear about this kid a LOT and deservedly so.
CLASS 4:
Per usual the geography is interesting. Another team to watch as the year progresses is a young but very promising Harrisonville. I said on 810Varsity they are playing with house money this year. If they progress like they did in 2010 and 2016 look out. District 8 is now officially the "Highway 92" one as Kearney, Platte County and my overall team to watch Smithville are all in the same conference (finally) and will duke it out for a trip to the Quarters.
CLASS 3:
District 7 is another very wide open looking one. Any of the following could win it: Center, Odessa, Pleasant Hill, Hogan Prep (still cannot figure out what happened in Oak Grove). District 8 looks to be all Maryville BUT statewide Trinity Catholic moving up changes the whole championship picture. Will also be very interesting to see how new Chillicothe HC Rulo fares. I have a feeling that is going to be a very good mutual fit.
CLASS 2:
District 7 still looks to be all Higginsville (Lafayette County if you prefer) but St. Michael is in year two where everybody returns plus Summit Christian Academy should be improved. District 8 is always fun to follow. The opener next week between Trenton and Lathrop will be an early measuring stick but I do like Lexington to win this and rematch the Huskers in the Quarters.
CLASS 1:
This class always gets me............so many teams and so hard to get much info on many of them but here are my guesses: D3 is all Adrian, D4 could be a dandy with Midway and Lincoln potentially colliding, D7 looks to be all about Wellington-Napoleon and East Buchanan while D8 contains the usual heavy fave Penney.
I have to do a lot more work before posting anything on 8-man. Look for that early next week.
