The sad thing is Wright was pretty good and a decent person. I'm a Bearcat but it's getting hard to like some of the crap they are pulling. Some of that is coming from tjeerdsma with the president.

I have also heard some convincing speculation that Dorrel is coming back. I think that's who it will be.
Read on another message board that UCO is looking at going D1. That might scare Dorrel back to Maryville since it went so poorly for ACU. Maybe that is what has already been in the works?
I don't think any team in D2 can remain a dynasty type power in the era of the portal. Honestly, the more successful the program the more likely the kids get poached every year now.

The path to D2 dominance isn’t as outrageous as one thinks.
If you had an NIL collective that covered full tuition and some spending money for top athletes and a program with state of the art facilities you would remove the incentive for the top D2 athletes to jump ship.
Think through all the walk on D1 kids who If they can get free college and some extra spending money and get to play for 4 years would be wayyy better off long term than tackling dummy at a P6 program.
Also, I’m more convinced then ever a kid nowadays can go from any school to the NFL if they can play.

With the new system, there will be 105 limit (if fully funded.) So a D2 guy getting 75% tuition is going to say "bye-bye" even without NIL involved.
I must not be tracking, can’t a D2 school give 75% scholarship and 20K?

D2 only has 36 Full Scholarships to give. Can be partial to make your roster, which is what happens. 36 to get to 85-100.
D1 will have 105 Roster spots. You can give full or partial for that up to the 105
NIL can go on top of all of it, if available.
Big D1s will not be able to carry over 105. They will have temp players that on not on the roster come time for the season. Because you need to go 8-9 deep on a lot of spots.
Somebody jump in here on D2. Why the F don't they increase the limit on that too? Schools like UCM and NW MO would fund it to the max.
Any accountants out there? When a school "funds" a scholarship the only hard cost is the normal tuition fee % budgeted to expenses. One extra body in the auditorium for Psych 1 isn't going to put the big college out of business. Same form the dorm cost. Food expense. Now that is another matter. A hard freakin' cost.

But Clark does care about us. He cares about getting as much of our money as possible while spending as little of his own on the team.
If you want to spend more money then move up a level. It’s pretty simple. I think you may be shocked how many D2 schools are not fully funded. I don’t know about now but a few years ago about half of MIAA programs not fully funded.
Also, some states do not allow any government money to be used on athletics. It’s pretty hard to get those programs fully funded privately.
