Sweep tonight and very demoralizing to Pirates. Even if Pirates get wildcard, this sweep give the Birds a significant edge mentally if they meet in playoffs. I hate to say it, but I think the Cubs are the Wildcard this year. They have a lot of talent.

The Mets have the second easiest remaining schedule left.

And you guessed it...
The Nationals have the easiest remaining schedule left.

The Cubs bullpen leaves a lot to be desired. They strike out A LOT. Don't get me wrong, they are building towards some happy times ahead, but IMO are a year away.

Didn't get the sweep but did what they really needed to do. Win the series and send the Pirates out of town down farther behind than when they came in.

No such thing as an easy schedule this time of year. The teams that are out of the race have nothing to lose and play like it. They can jump up and bite you real quick if you THINK it's going to be easy.

Of course, but you have to also think logically about things. The road is easier in the East, especially when you consider the injuries and trades in that division.

BTW, I would MUCH rather face the Cubs than the Mets come playoff time. That's a scary team right now. Nats, not so much, but they do have a staff that can shut you down.

The Mets gave taken off after adding THREE EFFECTIVE BATS without giving up the farm at the deadline.

Toronto has exploded after their deals.

Rarely on here. Just caught this gem of a post and couldn't help myself.

Cubs went 7-0 vs the great pitching staff of the Mets, while beating their Big 3. I'll take Arrieta, Lester and Hammel up against any staff in the league. The Cubs face a schedule that will have massive playoff implications. Deadbirds, Pirates, Giants, Dodgers.....then mix in 2 or 3 more series vs the Brewers.

The Cubs can go .500 the rest of the season and end up with 89 wins. I like their odds
