One of Comey's mistakes was saying 'thousands of classified emails.' That was not true, a small percentage was actually classified, I believe they said a few hundred. Still a bad thing but NOT 600,000.
Can you imagine the uproar that would have caused if Obama fired him while he was investigation Clinton? Oh wait Trumps just fired him while he was investigating Trump, and/or his people. I heard this evening they have 30 sources that say Trump was 'white hot' because Comey wouldn't shut down the Russian investigation and instead had just asked for more resources for it.
Yeah those pesky fake news thangs about Trump's business dealings in Russia surely won't come back to bite him.
Sounds to me like some folks inside the WH are rolling over on him. Who else would know he was so mad about Comey not shutting down the investigation?
I guess you missed the grand jury subpoenas for Michael Flynn's associates.
It took 2+ years between watergate and Nixon resigning.
I don't disagree it would have looked bad.
I also think Clinton could never have fired him for that reason.
I don't think they would have loved it but that's not the standard for comparison I was using. At least then it would have felt more like a reflection of his general opinion of Comey in light of the preceding six months.
Eh that assumes this is why he was actually fired which seems disconnected from most of the reporting out there, which is that trump personally wanted comey to do his bidding on a number of topics. That seems more aligned with trump's personality as well.
The wsj, wa post, nyt, and politico reporting aren't really supportive of the idea that last year is why he was fired. The memo was just a paper trail for the files
Do you really believe there's anything to investigate? After eight months, all that's been uncovered is that Micheal Flynn had some business deals in Russia that he didn't fully disclose. Those are slim picken's for eight months of whoopin' it up with allegations of some sort of nefarious collusion between Trump and Putin. Furthermore it's wearing thin. Democrats keep asking for a special prosecutor and there should be one, but to investigate Hillary's emails and Foundation.
Subpoenas are an indication that there's not nothing there.
Of course it's not the 1970s. It's just the most obvious example of investigations taking a long time. This isn't some nickel and dime investigation in Miller. This is going to take a long time even if Trump is guilty.
I in no way believe he was fired for his treatment of Clinton. He was fired for not being 'loyal' enough to Trump to suit Trump. His job is NOT to be loyal to anyone.
No that's NOT all has been discovered. He was caught talking about the sanctions on Russia to a Russian. The stuff they CAN'T say in these public hearings is where the nuts and bolts are. This is likely headed for Trump's financial dealing in Russia that he has denied ever having and possibly money laundering through Russian sources.
Subpoenas mean they are trying to find evidence not that they have evidence.
Things happen MUCH faster now.

The Left hates Trump the way we hate Hillary. To think once the investigation is over they'll all be happy and just go away is ridiculous.
If the "entire" Trump Administration were put in jail for 60 years the Democrats would still be disappointed that they weren't given the death penalty.

I'm sorry but I'm having a very cynical day today. Both sides or a complete joke and this country is in serious trouble.

IMO there is no such thing as "Independent" any longer.
The courts are now filled with liberal judges that see the law from a "liberal" point of view rather than a "Legal" point of view and act accordingly.
