WOW CONGRATS to the Hornets...................first ever Girls BB title! This adds to an already amazing sports year in Northtown!
And that will do it for the C4-C5 final four. Just wanted to add another tidbit before closing the season:
Every late January NKC hosts the Northland Girls BB classic which now is considered one of the top ones in the KC metro and beyond. One look at how SIX of the eight entrants fared this season shows why:
Seed 1 North KC just won the MO C5 title.
Seed 2 Lincoln Prep is the MO C4 runner up.
Seed 3 Park Hill South won C5 D16 and lost a fairly close one to the aforementioned NKC in sectionals.
Seed 4 Kearney won C4 D14 and defeated Nevada by 20 in sectionals before losing to the aforementioned Lincoln Prep in the C4 quarterfinals on a narrowly missed 3 at the buzzer.
Seed 6 Schlagle (KCK) finished third in the KS 5A tourney which included a shocker over perennial super power Wichita Heights. They came up just two short in their semifinal.
Seed 7 St. Pius X won C3 D16 and won its sectional with ease over St. Michael the Archangel before falling to then unbeaten Trenton in the quarterfinals.
Back in five months with NWCMO FB Pick Em and will (promise) look into doing some kind of prize contest next hoops season!
