Not the prettiest game you'll ever see but fun to watch. Close game all the way through and no major foul trouble for either team so the players that needed to be on the court for both teams in a game like this were there to the end.

Its A Great Day to be a Raider. Pack the civic center with blue on Saturday night.

NC played well and for some unknown reason Dexter did NOT press at all until there was under 2 minutes left. When they didn't press in the first half I figured Coach Allen didn't want to risk foul trouble and they would come out in the 3rd quarter with their half court trap but they didn't do that either. I'm quite sure Dexter fans are still scratching their heads over that.

I guess that coaching search needs to be put on hold for a few more days. It was fun to watch the biggest basketball win in the history of the program. I wish the Lady Raiders, Coach Arnold, Coach Brewer, and Coach Kemp the best of luck Saturday at the Civic Center.

Biggest win in the history of the program? North County used to be good every year, they were the best in the MAAA for sure for several years. Surely this is not the first time they have won a sectional game.

Well it worked out and they didn't leave Dexter much time it over come it. Keeping that timeout may have been more important than the possession it would have saved at the time. Both teams used all their timeouts before it was over. BTW the way they were down with 51 seconds left and had only 4 team fouls so they had to give up 3 fouls to get Dexter to the line.

So you go for steals and commit the foul if you don't get it. You don't let the clock run down and limit your chances. They were extremely fortunate.

They let it get it precariously low on time for the last foul but they won anyway. I was not privy to anything he said after the game I didn't talk to him and I was headed home not long after it was over.

I think you miss a lot of the coaching that goes on during the game. Many successful coaches do their coaching in practice and let their players play and "figure it out" as they play. I don't know what goes on in practice at NC, but I know that Coach Arnold probably has forgot more about basketball than most of us will ever know. I do know that the Lady Raiders are playing with a lot of confidence and that Coach Arnold, Brewer and Kemp put in a lot of time and effort in to prepare them to play. I think Coach Arnold has confidence in his girls and lets them play rather trying to micro-manage the game like other coaches do. It's easy to sit in the stands and be a "catfish". I think the NC fans should be proud of their team and their coaching staff and realize that you are blessed with really good players and coaches who are getting the job done. How quickly you forget how things were just a few years ago...

I'm not a NC Basketball Historian, but I have lived in this area all of my life and followed basketball very closely. I am pretty sure this is the first time a NC girls team has ever won a Sectional Game. You are right in the fact that they have had a lot of good teams. Perryville stood in their way a lot of the time when they had good teams and they lost some tough games in Sectionals. They seem to have some good young players as well, so the future looks pretty good.

Thanks masters. I lived in Bonne Terre from '75 to '86, I know they were top dogs in the MAAA for quite a while. Could not remember if they ever won beyond conference and districts but I do recall Perryville being very good every year back then. Farmington and Park Hills started winning in conference play and Farmington took over in the class 4 district and beyond for a good while. I remember Park Hills coming to PB to play Doniphan in the class 3 playoffs back when Doniphan was real good. Saw some very good games between the two back then.

I hope they have one more win in them. I agree every coach has a different style. Coach Arnold does not stand up and hollar the whole game. I think he has done a good job but he has also been blessed with some good players and parents. A group of parents that put alot of time in with there kids during the offseason. But that is what it takes any more to put a good team on the floor. I sure hope we can put somebody good in Coach Arnolds place because I agree I think we have some good players coming along.

Pack the civic center with Blue and Gold Saturday.

Mike if they have one more win in them they have a shot at one more after that. MICDS will be a load Saturday night but IWA would be an even bigger load in the finals in Columbia.

No problem 3R. I know they had some really good teams when Bonnie Bradley and Van Yount coached them. I am a Central guy, but I am good friends with Coach Arnold through golf and just admiration of his work as a coach. Coach Brewer is a former student and I have gotten to know Coach Kemp by following their team this year. I am a fan of basketball and support all of the MAAA teams come play-off time. I would love to see the Lady Raiders win tomorrow night. I will be in Columbia supporting the Lady Rebs, but I will be keeping tabs on the Lady Raiders. I would like nothing more than to go back up and watch them in Columbia next week. I hope the Lady Rebs bring home a State Championship tomorrow night.

I'm with ya on all accounts, except that I will be in P.B. watching on the computer or checking for scores on here and the MSHSAA site. The 3 day tourney thang gets pretty expensive, especially if you do it both weekends. I decided to sit it out this year, I've already put on many miles and ate lotsa burgers and dogs watching those kids and others this season.

I'm hoping the MAC bunch plays well out at Hutch next week. It was good to see TRCC back in the mix this year. That rivalry has been a lot of fun over the years. Seeing Chad Allen on Tuesday brought back some bad memories as a MAC fan!

MAC got a 5 seed so they could get off to a good start but we all know about those 5-12 seed games in the NCAA Tournament. They seem to be bad for the 5 seed for some reason.
