The unbelievable three year run that resulted in a
pair of Class 1 Show-Me Bowl titles ended for the Orrick Bearcats a
season ago, however Pat
Richard and his squad return plenty
of talent to start a new streak.
“We
lost an outstanding senior class. Their talent and leadership will be
hard to replace”, commented Richard. One
of the great things about tradition is that it never seems to graduate. Capable
players growing waiting for their opportunity to shine and when given
the opportunity they perform.
“I feel like this year's group has worked exceptionally hard in the
off-season to be successful. This year's seniors have shown tremendous
toughness and leadership so far, and I'm excited to watch them continue
to improve. We are growing closer as a team and family each practice and
if that continues we will be successful”, added Richard.
The Bearcats will
return six offensive and seven defensive starters to Doc
Simmons Field this
fall. Senior
Logan Eubank(6-1 191) returns as a key contributor at
running back and linebacker. Other
returning starters include: senior OL/DL Cameron McGlothlin(6'4
242), senior OL/DL Jordyn Butler(6'3 244), senior TE/DB
Turner Twyman(5'9 153), senior Zach Nichols
OL-DL (6' 243), and senior TE/DL Dakota Haslar (5'11
188)
A newcomer to the Bearcat roster to keep an eye on this season is senior
RB/DB Marcus McClellan(6' 171).
The Bearcats will be challenged in the I-70 Conference this season by a
schedule that includes Concordia and Wellington-Napoleon each enter
ranked among the top ten teams in the state.
