Nixa football

It’s not sour grapes at all. If they want to spend the citizens tax dollars on an indoor football facility that is totally fine. But don’t propose a tax increase saying they need more money for the students, one of the usual claims is that the teachers are having to pay for classroom supplies with their own money. I already pay thousands of dollars in property tax on an annual basis, I don’t want to have to pay more because Nixa chose to build an indoor football facility.

You can't use Bond money for teacher pay.

Investment in these types of facilities is an investment in the kids and their future. Something like this can be used for so much more than just football. Like somebody else said it attracts families to your community as they see if you are wiliness to invest in the kids. It creates excitement at the school. I think you can also see other benefits.

In Monett We've seen how beneficial the turf field has been; it has become a hub of activity, constantly used by people enjoying sports and recreation. Initially, many thought it was a waste of money, but it has proven to be a valuable asset and it was all done thru private donations. So now a some citizens in Monett are exploring the possibility of raising funds through private donations to build an indoor facility. Because we can see the many benefits it would bring.

Carl Junction has had a 40 yard indoor practice facility for 5 or 6 years but it doubles as a tornado shelter.
A less than Basketball gym sized room with green carpet does not count as an indoor practice facility. Why they would put green carpet and not field turf is beyond me.

$$$

The same reason people buy AJ4 reps for $150 from China or Bangladesh. They wanna be like the cool kids but don't wanna spend the coin to be like the cool kids.

Curb appeal!

I swear, that one little corner of CJ's district saves it from being Neosho-esque.
You have not spent much time in CJ school district have you? CJ school district includes the entire west side of Joplin. AKA the only nice part of Joplin. That is where all the doctors and lawyers and people with money live. Many ritzy neighborhoods in CJ district, not just Briarbrook. CJ has the second lowest free and reduced lunch rate (27%) in the area next to Nixa(21%). In comparison Joplin has 60%. Webb City and Neosho are both around 40%. CJ is more like Nixa demographically than any other town around.

I lived in Nixa back when it was quite Neosho-esque (no offense intended to Neosho, of course). And the population was about 22,000 less.
