I saw Nixa play last night.....
.....against Kickapoo. It's going to take a great effort to get by Nixa. The have great size and pretty good speed to go with the size. They pack it in with a 2-3 zone and sometimes a 2-1-2 with 6'6" Chase Allen coming up a little higher in the lane. It makes it really hard to score on them inside. Kickapoo relies on their outside shooting, but it just wasn't there in either game with Nixa this year. The scores in their two games were almost identical. In the only other meeting earlier this year at Nixa, the Eagles won, 59-46.
I also thought there were some really questionable "no calls" that went against Kickapoo when Nixa was on offense. Jacob Ruder, 6'7", lowered his shoulder and knocked the defender to the floor on one offensive possession and then use his forearm to gain separation on another and there was no call on either for an offense foul. At one point in the third quarter last night, Kickapoo had been called for eight fouls and zero for Nixa. Despite the discrepancy at the foul line, Kickapoo battled back due to their full court pressure and cut an 18-point Nixa lead to three, but could not get any closer than that.
The Blue Springs South vs. Nixa game at SBU should be a good one.
