I too totally agree with the "cookie cutter offense" statement. If in fact they do hire Odom as HC, do they bring in a new offensive coordinator or do they hire from within and keep the same bullshit approach.I'm with you, Bluetiger. Sick of watching zone read. There is so little creativity.
There are so many openings this year that the pool is limited. The hot coaches have their pick. We'll get to see how much influence the Missouri AD has by his new coach.I too totally agree with the "cookie cutter offense" statement. I made the comment on another thread that Mizzou's eventual hire would reflect the amount of $$$ that they are willing to spend. Hiring Odom simply tells me that they are doing things on the cheap.

Are they willing to compete ($$$) to get the guy they want or are they simply going to take the easy way out ?(Barry Odom)There are so many openings this year that the pool is limited. The hot coaches have their pick. We'll get to see how much influence the Missouri AD has by his new coach.
Only Virginia plays in a Power 5 conference. The rest of those schools are not the most desirable destination...From what I've been hearing, promoting Odom may be the only way to keep him as his name is coming up with about 7 other HC jobs, including Toledo, Memphis, Tulane, UL Lafayette, Maine, Virginia, North Texas..
Mark Richt is fired from Georgia.
And Maine is an average FCS school. Memphis and Virginia are the only two I could see him taking. Virginia is Power 5 conf. And Memphis for obvious ties to the program.Only Virginia plays in a Power 5 conference. The rest of those schools are not the most desirable destination...
All i know is whoever they hire better be a minority or the campus may revolt again. Im teetering on switching my allegiance to arky
Herman is being mentioned for the Georgia job...Miles staying at LSU, Fuente has taken the Vir Tech job.. really thinking Hermann will at least get a look
All that works great if you have the play makers to carry it out! IMO, it will be a step back to hire a mid-major coach or even Odom. Only time will tell.
I think he'd be a great hire. Heard Dearmond this morning saying he didn't think he or Miles (had he been let go)would be a good fit for MU. They had Pinkel, or slightly higher, (his words) success at places with better resources. How could they do it at MU? Total BS, IMO. They've both had significantly more success than Pinkel (certainly no shot at Pinkel). And...If you don't hire one of them (theoretically), you're hiring someone completely unproven as a HC in a Power 5 conference. Batcrap reasoning. If two guys like that can't get it done with lesser resources, why would one assume someone with far less experience and success could???I would not mind trying to get Richt
At some point somebody is going to take a chance on Bo Pelini and they're going to be right....The guy can coach...and he isn't the monster the Nebraska media made him out to be....Won a National Title in the SEC with LSU...has ties to the midwest (especially KC) recruiting.....Mizzou should give him a look.
Would rather see Odom get it instead of the list I saw. Really. Cal coach was only 7-5, 5-7 and 1-11 the last three years in an average conferenceSonny Dykes would bring the offensive spark we need.
Didn't a fairly prominent team already take a chance on him?At some point somebody is going to take a chance on Bo Pelini and they're going to be right....The guy can coach...and he isn't the monster the Nebraska media made him out to be....Won a National Title in the SEC with LSU...has ties to the midwest (especially KC) recruiting.....Mizzou should give him a look.

Don't care about offense or defense. The next Coach better be able to recruit. It is all about recruiting!!Just read on ESPN that Odom is no longer a candidate for the Memphis job.
COMPLETE overhaul from what they were doing under Tedford. Dude can coach. And recruit. He'd be flat awesome in Columbia. Think Leach at TTU.Would rather see Odom get it instead of the list I saw. Really. Cal coach was only 7-5, 5-7 and 1-11 the last three years in an average conference

I don't think he'd be very fun to watch until they get some WRs. Once that happens, then I would whole-heartedly agree.I think Lock in that offense would be fun to watch and he'd be pretty successful with it as well.
Richt to Miami...I would not mind trying to get Richt
