No way do they hire in house.

I think Les Miles would be a huge pickup for Mizzou. With that said, it will get interesting here very soon.

I think Les will be in the SEC, whether it is Mizzou, South Carolina or if Georgia comes open. I believe he has close to if not the #1 recruiting class right now

Tom Hermann. Do not think it will be a good hire. Les would be great, but not sure if he could get the same recruits for MU that he got for LSU if he is not there next season.

The no way it happens list, but boy if it could...
  1. Les Miles
  2. Chip Kelley (remember, I said no way it happens)
  3. Mark Richt
The realistic list...
  1. Justin Fuente
  2. Tom Herman
If those above turn it down...
  1. Barry Odom

NEEDS to be Fuente. Offensive minded
MILES would be fine
KELLY - Not sure I want to see run n gun football. Of course I prefer the 21-20 type of games

Tom Herman. Les Miles would be huge on a recruiting standpoint but he would have to let someone have more input on the offense. Seems to be why he's getting booted out of LSU. I've heard Mike Gundy a few times but there's no way he leaves the gig he's got.

I like Miles but you guys act like he's Nick Satan. He recruits with Saban....but doesn't coach with him. His coaching has never lined up with his recruiting. I think his national championship team had two losses. One to Arkansas in week 12....who mizzou smoked 3 weeks later. At the most he has 5 years left

I would take Herman, Odom, Fuente (not coming), or even cat from temple. Only reason the mad hatter is appealing is that he may bring some recruits....but he ain't coming.

Mark richt is less than appealing. Why would anyone expect him to be a home run hire at Mizzou, given mizzou's major disadvantages compared to Georgia?

Chip Kelly...not gonna happen.

Les miles: see mark richt.

Chiz: ...come on

Auburn OC: don't even know why that would be appealing.

It's going to be Herman or odom.

This is a long shot, but I am sick of watching the same cookie cutter offenses!

I want to watch an offensive line run over somebody!

Ken Niumatalolo - Head Coach Navy

Has probably the toughest recruiting restrictions.
Has to coach around bigger commitments by his players (like preparing to serve our country)
He has done a real good job building a consistent winner.

Won't happen, but I like his offense!

Chip Kelly would be a home run but i don't think he's given up on the NFL yet unless he gets fired. Would Mizzou be attractive enough to him? If Strong was to leave Texas for Miami that would make things very interesting.

I'll take Paul Johnson
You're not the only person that has said his name. My question is why do people want him?

At GT, he's won 10+ games twice, but only 1 time with his players. Since 2009, he's 42-36. This year he's headed for his worst season at GT after having quite high expectations this season, his 8th year in. He seems like a middling coach. What am I missing?

I voted for Willie Fritz. He's had success everywhere he's been. I know he is not a "proven commodity" at the SEC level, but teams he has coached at other levels have been good.

You guys that want recruiting, and then ask for one of the bone guys, crack me up. That won't help recruiting in the least.

Les Miles isn't Saban...but he was while Saban was in the NFL. Any MU fan that turns their nose up at the opportunity to get Miles is just plain nuts, IMHO. It's amazing what the expectations have become. He's one of the country's best recruiters. And check out his losses the last few years (which is what everyone is complaining about). Discounting meaningless bowl games, their losses are to some pretty darned good teams. Not like they compete in the SECEast. Their division is actually loaded, every year, with REALLY good teams.

Rather than Miles you'd like to have some dude that's got one year of HC experience in a mid major (and his claim to fame before that was being the "OC" next to one of the greatest offensive minds in college football), a defensive coordinator with zero HC experience, or some other mid major dude that runs bone schemes. Unreal.

Disclaimer...I know he's not coming to COMO.

If he's not coming to Mizzou then why are we talking about it? Our only other options are one of the "bone guys" or some type of coordinator

Because of the nimrod or two on this thread that said they'd want one of those guys over him.

He's had an unbelievable amount of injuries this year.. Something like 10 RB's have had to play, 5 of which never would have this year. I'm not saying he is a great fit for Mizzou, but he has been good every where he's been (2 NC at Georgia Southern, Navy, now GT) and I think it would be interesting to see him recruit at Mizzou. It's easier to get kids their than it is at GT or Navy.. Plus, he might just offer every senior from Webb lol

Might be a stupid question but would that type of offense work in the SEC? I think you'd see a lot of the skill position guys leave if we were to get the guy from GT. Not saying that would make a big difference after how bad the offense was this year. I feel like they're going to get a guy who will benefit Lock and build the offense around him. Someone like Herman or Fuente could do that.

Maybe ask C. Johnson or D. Thomas if Paul Johnson produces ok skill guys

Calvin Johnson never played for Paul Johnson and D. Thomas was recruited and played 2 years under Gailey and 2 under Paul Johnson...so no reason to ask them really. Now he did recruit and develop Stephen Hill who had 1,000 yds and 49 receptions at GT...in his 3 year career. He became a 2nd
Round pick by the Jets because of his measurables but was cut two years into his contract. So there's that.

According to footballscoop, Rhoades is meeting with Matt Campbell of Toledo tonight, and also expected to meet with Matt Rhule of Temple.

Matt Campbell has now agreed to be the next head coach at Iowa St. Matt Rhule still expected to interview and Barry Odom will interview a second time.

By now, I'd be totally shocked if it's not Odom. Fuente takes VaTech. Campbell to Iowa St (would imagine this is after MU said no thanks, but you never know). Miles remains at LSU. Don't see MU going with Rhule or Babers over Odom. Barring a Frank Haith type moment, looks like Odom is the man.

I'm with you, Bluetiger. Sick of watching zone read. There is so little creativity.
