This might have been posted already, but I was just catching up on PrepsKC. The assistants were news to me.

"Donohoe and Kruse both took retirement from their public-school jobs as head coaches and ADs. Donohoe left Blue Springs and Kruse left Raymore-Peculiar after the school year.

Neither took the Severino route but instead ended up at Rockhurst together. Donohoe was named the Hawklets new head coach in December and Kruse has come on as an assistant. Also joining the staff is retired Blue Springs South coach Greg Oder rounding out what will be an all-star crew."

Wow! I had heard about Donahoe and Kruse but Oder joining the staff, pretty cool. Unless that ends up being a, too many Chefs in the kitchen situation, that really is an all-star crew.

Do they have specific areas of the city they recruit?

Wherever there is alumni, there is a recruiter for them.
My son has a friend whose a really good basketball player. His mom told me that his baseball coach (an alum) said that they had alumni scholarships they could get for her son. First I've ever actually heard someone put it into words how it is funded.

$35/hr 'work study' helps too.

I'd love to know what those "assistant coaches" are being paid...?
