I saw on the news their new complex will seat 1000 more people than KE Baker does.

I would have thought they would have built it a lot bigger

I read it would seat about 3,500 on the home side and another 1000 on the visitor side. Which is about 1,000 more on the home side - visitor side maybe about the same? KE was usually pretty full but seating capacity was not one of the more common complaints I heard - partly because there were a lot of good places to watch the game from the grassy areas - that may not be as possible at the new place. It may be too small for the first game or two when a lot of people will come for the sole purpose of checking out the stadium, but beyond that, I think it's an appropriate size. Parking, restrooms, proximity to school, concessions, goofy broken up layout, and a general tired and outdated feel were the complaints I heard the most. There was also a significant group that felt KEB was just fine, maybe with some updates.

I think it's smart to build a stadium sized for the expected crowd, rather than build an oversized stadium that will look and feel half empty and un-energetic. If crowds start growing, it wouldn't be terribly difficult to add more seating. I think CJ did that recently.

Here are some pics I've seen floating around recently:

One of the things I liked about the old field at Carthage was that I could go stand on the track right by the corner of the endzone. From the looks of things that will no longer be an option. And second look at the last photo, appears those bleachers are a bit bigger than what I realized looking at it the first time.

If you have the space why would you not separate your football and track facilities? The cost wouldn't be that much greater and you are able to move the fans about 30+ ft. closer on each side. Ozarks new stadium and what it appears Carthage has done puts the first row of seats about 60-70ft. from the sideline. I have been to a couple of stadiums without a track and thought it added to the atmosphere.

I'm glad Webb didn't have to have corporate sponsorship to muck up the field. Does look nice though. C-Town has done a lot better over the years and deserved a really nice place. Good for them.

Looks like they have an indoor facility now. I don't remember seeing that at the old stadium.

Indoor facility? Not. It does look cool though was over there last Friday. Only thing I couldnt find was the sign.

Whats the big building on the north end of the endzone? That's what I thought might be indoor.

I believe that is what they are referring to as the field house. I think it contains home (and visitor) locker rooms, weight rooms, wresting facility and I am not sure what else. I don't think it's an indoor football practice facility but it's possible it could be used as such if needed?

I don't think they "had" to get sponsors, the project was fully funded with a tax increase. I think they just saw it as an opportunity to raise additional funds for the district, with Mercy having a significant presence, and some very wealthy people in the community - private individuals made the donations for the stadium and the press box. Doesn't WC play Mercy commercials on the video screen at each game? And Mercy's logo is in the dome (which btw I think is the best HS basketball facility I've seen). Mercy advertising seems to be at every school these days!

Here are a few more pics I saw posted by the school district. They are saying expected completion in June. Those who have attended games at KE Baker, especially the visitor side, will appreciate the restrooms!

I think it will be fine for most games. CJ and Webb city both brought about the same crowd to Carthage. The visitor bleachers looked mostly full with a few scattered holes and some people along the sidelines. For every other coc member the stands were maybe 1/3 full. I have no idea what to expect from joplin. They have the capacity to bring a crowd to nearby jasper county games but I don't know what their following is like. I really enjoy the close games between wc/cj wc/carthage carthage/cj etc. Fun places to be on a Friday night.

Sorry Falco. I was mainly going off of who has been on here the longest. You played some good ball for the Sentinels, I just liked Stef and Boskos documentary a little better than yours.

Here are a few more photos I've seen posted lately for anyone who is interested. It's looking nice. Last time I passed by was a few weeks ago it looked like the stadium itself was mostly done, but still a lot of work remaining on the grounds - parking lot, sidewalks, landscaping and probably trimming out the inside of the buildings.

I wonder if they will put flags along the top of the bleachers? I always think that is a nice touch when schools do that.

Does this put the COC as the Missouri conference with the best set of stadiums when thinking about the average of all teams in the league? Carthage now, Webb has its Mecca, Branson and Ozark are impressive, Carl Junction's improvements a year ago brought it forward, lots of nice turf designs, etc. Neosho's field looked updated when I drove by the other day.

What is the worst COC football stadium at this point?
