Nevada Voted to join the Big 8

So basically they separated them into Divisions schedule wise but not in name? Looking at Bolivar's schedule from 2007 they played current COC Large/Small members Willard, Republic, Rogersville, Marshfield, Branson, Buffalo, and Reeds Spring. I am unsure on which/any of these were district games assigned by the state.

The Big 8 will be so much weaker with all these scrubs entering the conference!! Who's letting all of these schools enter the Big 8! Their coaches are nowhere near the coaches already in the Big 8! Coach Bailey- Greatest recruiter on the planet... Coach Parnell- Brightest yellow wearing shirt wearer in the USA... Coach Uhl- Best hair this side of the Mississippi.... Coach Cox- Oldest coach in the Class 3 football.... Coach McFarland- Biggest Webb City offense thief that is an alumni . Aurora/Mac- N/A. C'mon what do these new coaches bring to the table????

All joking aside, did the Big 8 coaches have any say in whether this merger happened or was it the "brains" that run the districts deciding things on matters that only really effect sports. As an outsider looking in I can't imagine many coaches being for this. The big 8 does have a very good history in multiple sports (football obviously being #1), and its hard to believe that the coaches would want to water it down with the sewage that is the COC small. I said it in a previous post that the COC small will be better in basketball than the original Big 8 teams most years due to their proximity to Springfield. I understand that some sports will now have conference championships, but I would really like to know how many, if any, coaches were ever asked for input before this whole thing started out of the original Big 8 members? I could be wrong and every coach was asked what he/she thought and that was taken into account before the process began. Any Big 8 coaches on this board feel free to chime in on this.

I would imagine that would depend on the relationship that the AD has with their respective Football coach. I would find it hard to imagine that the coaches were caught by surprise by this.

Agreed not many coaches were caught by surprise, it will also help come district time, and when trying to find games for football. I know many big 8 schools have struggled with that. I don't think Lamar likes having an open date.

All these conferences possibly won't matter depending on what MSHSAA does with football classes in 2018 with redrawing districts every year. I'm way out of the loop living in Florida now, but could there be a possibility of 6 to 8 team districts, with teams playing all district members in the regular season?

I don't like the Class 1 catch-all. Lots of travel for certain programs, especially if conference play is eliminated. Class 2 would be somewhat more interesting though.
