Nevada and Lincoln Prep

Heard the band has really flourished with the kids from those schools.

So Chaotic, I looked at enrollment numbers and Monett's elementary and Middle school number are much larger than West Plains, however looking at the High school number West plains almost doubles Monett? So is West Plains Shrinking and these are these the last large classes?
Feeder scbools for WP:

1. West Plains Middle School- next to HS
2. Richards School(K-8) NW edge of city limits
3. Junction Hill(K-8) about 4 miles E/NE of town
4. Fairview(K-8) about 3-4 miles west of town
5. Glenwood(K-8) about 3-4 miles south of town
6. Howell Valley(K-8) SE edge of city limits
7. South Fork(K-6) about 6 miles SW of town, feeds into WP Middle

for the longest time, the rural schools didn’t play football but they did play baseball(WP middle didn’t)
WP middle also didn’t do softball.

As a result, most of the softball and baseball team at WPHS were majority rural school kids.

Rural school kids also have a choice of HS that they wanted to attend as well.

to the best of my knowledge:

Richards kids can attend WP, Willow or Dora
Fairview kids can attend WP or Dora
South Fork kids can attend WP or Bakersfield
Glenwood kids can attend WP, Bakersfield, or Koshkonong I believe
Howell Valley kids can attend WP or Koshkonong
Junction Hill kids can attend WP or Willow

Are Pomona's kids all going to Willow (in lieu of calling down there)?

Chaotic you are on the right track, but there are more schools and more options than you listed. Thayer is in the mix. Alton. And I believe Willow and Dora are possible places for any of those schools.

And there is a continual drama that goes on about the tuition charges for each school. There is always talk of another high school being built in WP. It used to be a RIchards driven high school. From what I have heard there is again more talk of this, but not as connected to Richards as in the past. BUt it is hard to keep up with all the swirling rumors

If it’s how it used to be, they have a choice of Richards and Willow for K-8 and a choice of WP or Willow for HS
I am about 95% sure that those directly in pomona are in willow district and then just south of Pomona is where the choice for Richards, etc takes place.

I keep forgetting about Alton.
and this is the first I’ve heard of Thayer being in the mix. Doesn’t surprise me though.
how the whole clusterf*ck of rural school to high school stuff worked was always pretty confusing when I lived there.

You’re probably correct. I just knew more than one person that had a Pomona “address” who attended Richards for K-8 and then decided on Willow for HS later.
it’s very possible they lived outside of the Pomona limits though.

Never knew you were of Howell County ancestry lol
LONG lineage. Uncle on my mom's side married into the Morlan/Shell empire and runs the used car dealership out by Wal-Mart. Dad's immediate family died off long ago. There's still some distant relatives in the Pottersville area. Spent all my summers at Hammond's Mill on the North Fork. Good times.

Morlan Shell Ford.
wow. It’s a small world.
I’ve spent a decent amount of time on that river myself over the years.

My mom's family lived on/owned Howell County cemetery for years just south of Pomona. The stories I can tell about them.
Is that Howell Memorial Park Cemetery? May as well let out that is where pretty much the core of my Dad's entire ancestry is buried.

Indeed it is. I'm sure my granny and pa pa conversed with them. What characters the both of them.
SMALL WORLD. My Dad's uncle was a 1953 Ozark Bowl State Champ player at Willow. Great Granddad was quite the character lived to 99 I bet you are 100 percent right! HOLY MOLY.

MV has had an interesting year. I was not overly impressed with them early but some how they have kept winning despite thier youth. Old Tom somehow always gets them up when it counts and somehow finds a way to win.
He does find a way to work some magic. One of if not the best coach in the area.
