My take on Class 4 as of this week

No, no, no.......
The top ten teams are all from the KC metro. SOS says so. Through 3 weeks, the others have 2 or 3 wins because they haven't played anybody.
Type us up a new list Joey.
Don’t forget that the weather now determines whether or not one team would compete with another.
Not a true KC Metro flavor...you have to go Class 5 and 6 for that. Here is Class 4, none of which crack the top 5 overall in the state:

Our local Catholic Church graciously lets football fans use their facilities I think Webb should get bonus points also!!!
Webb rarely could/would be in the top 5 of the state.

That’s hard to say. After the first 2 min of the game, WP held Camdenton to about 75 yards the rest of the game which is pretty impressive, but that may remain to be seen. Webb and Kearney definitely have the best defenses as of right now. And I would say West Plains after them maybe.
But Smithville and Ladue could very well have just as good of a defense.
Ladue held Webster Groves to 7 the other night, but I haven’t been paying attention to Class 5 so maybe WG isn’t what they have been in years past.
West Plains has allowed 7 points this season so far, smithville has allowed 13 and those were to Central(St Joe) and Ladue has allowed a score in each game they’ve played this year.
So I would say probably those 3.
After looking at 810 Varsity vs GV, I think Smithville starts 10 seniors on Def. Like approx 7 returners as I recall the 17 PC play off game.

It is very hard to know how good west plains really is. They play in the Ozark Conference so they have no out of conference games. The problem with that is the Ozark Conference is horrid in football. When your best competition is Camdenton ( who hasn't been relevant in a decade) and Lebanon (who has never been relevant) it is hard to know. Seems like every year any team that comes out of the OC looking impressive is an early out in districts.

You might have PC too high. They can't stop anybody right now. Ladue must be pretty salty.
Ladue beat St. Louis University 14-6. SLU rates about the same as Grandview. Grandview. Grain Valley beat Grandview 30-20.
Why the bold font? Good info. I can't speak for teams outside the KC area. If Ladue is on par with Grandview, then its a tough place to compete in football versus the traditional powerhouses.
Well everyone is an early out in Class 4 districts when your district includes Webb and CJ. For 2-3 years WP, CJ and Webb were always top 6 in the state headed into districts. It’s hard to say they’re an easy out when you have to beat the state champion to even make the playoffs.
West Plains is out east this year so who knows. If all goes well they’ll get their shot at Ladue in the playoffs and maybe even Webb in the championship. Who knows. I’m not sure how the brackets are set this year with what districts play who in the playoffs.

Groves is way, way down. That being said Ladue has had a legit D the past two seasons and likely does again this year.
2012- 45-7 loss in districts to Webb City
2013- 36-7 loss in districts to Hillcrest
2014- 28-21 Loss in districts to Carl Junction
2015- 45-12 loss in districts to Webb City
2016- 42-6 loss in districts to Webb City
2017- 28-7 loss in districts to Carl Junction
Being on the east side will help West Plains. Hopefully they can break the streak and make a run.
I can agree with that. But I’ll tell you one thing, with Carl Junction down, that eliminates pretty much the only contender in Webb’s district. And with WP out east it will more than likely be a total cakewalk through districts with running clock by half in every game for the cardinals.
Review the tourney this year...WC has the hardest route to get to the finals, but shpuld roll through . On the other side, Pretty much the Winner of Dist. 8 has a breeze getting in.the championship. Smithville or Kearney .
I was referring to districts only. Not the road to the title in the playoffs. You’re correct about the road to the title for Webb after districts.
