8-man: North Andrew. Percent chance <1. This class looks pretty wide open this year (HUGE showdowns next week). My hunch is Stanberry but watch Sacred Heart.

C1: Valle Catholic. Percent chance 45-50. Wide open but still feel fairly confident about this one.

C2: Lamar. Percent chance 80. Could have a very interesting title rematch. The Lutheran North-Trinity district final will be something else.

C3: Center. Percent chance 55-60. Much more confident of this pick, at least to get to Columbia, than just a few weeks ago.

C4: Webb City. Percent chance 95. Were Carl Junction not in the same district this would be closer to 99. As I feared preseason NWMO, which had the entire title game in 2016, is down.

C5: Staley. Percent chance 85-90. Never mind last night this team is nearly impossible to stop. Funny thing is so is Vianney so a major title shootout looms likely.

C6: Blue Springs. Percent chance 35-40. Wide open in the KC metro between them, Park Hill, LSW and still potentially Rockhurst although last night's blowout loss to CBC could forewarn STL is poised to keep the trophy in 2017.

Preseason Picks

8 man North Andrew
0% chance Never thought I would see a game end at half because NA losing

Class 1 Penney
66% they still win

Class 2 Lamar
80% still wins cause of Trinity/Luthern talent level have to give them 20% chance. But team Trumps talent imo.

Class 3 Maryville
15% chance. If they make out of districts (highly doubt it) Lot better chance. Winner District 8 this year state champ imo.

Class 4 Webb City
95% Giving winner of district 8 a 5% chance

Class 5 Staley
50% not sure who else

Class 6 Blue Springs
50% wide open

I will get a firsthand look at Platte County this Friday. Unless Kearney shows me something totally unexpected gotta think the Pirates are heavy faves to win C4 D8.

I will be at the Smith-Cotton @ Center game this next Friday. S-C is undefeated (and untested) and Center with 1-loss (and also untested). I think Smith-Cotton pulls it out. Center is not near the team they were last year....

.

Not to be a wet blanket because I hope you are right but in WC's win last night at Neosho there was an injury that could potentially have a pretty big impact on both sides of the ball.

I'm not doctor and maybe the medical staff was playing it safe but it sure didn't look good when it happened.

Center is formidable, but hit them in the mouth early and often with no finesse whatsoever, you can compete. Have no clue what Smith Cotton brings, but don't over think it.

I think 8 man will be Worth County. They had a loaded sophomore group two years ago that was talked up pretty good that year. Many thought last year would be their year, but it seems it could be this year.

This will be the best week of the season in 8-man with Mound City visiting Rock Port and the big, big one Worth County hosting Stanberry. Something still tells me not to count out Sacred Heart. It will be a fun, interesting playoffs in this class.

Sacred Heart is very good, but they remind me of Strafford several years ago. Great athletes, but take plays off and use pure athleticism to beat most teams they play. What happens when they meet a team that plays physical, disciplined football and can match their athleticism will be interesting.

Look for Hayti to make noise this year.

Don't think that they've forgotten their loss to Valle last year. Gave Valle their best game against teams in their area, even with their best player out.

Though their performance on Friday concerns me.

I would agree about Center and Smith- Cotton. Center's best win was over a class 4 Grain Valley who look to be mrvc champs. Smith-Cotton's best win was its opener over Moberly who looks be it's conference champ. S-C won't play a class 5 team until week 11.

Key note to keep on SC's opening win. It was weather altered but, credit to them, they have taken care of the schedule presented to them. For Week 9 there are more "revealing" games than I remember in many years closing a regular season.

Often true against Center....very similar common opponent scores, so should be a good one.

The Moberly game was their biggest test and being the opening game I can't put a whole lot of stock in it. Was not very impressed with Moberly in that game, and it looks as though both teams have improved along the way

2 and a half hour delay and didn't finish till midnight....that game could have gone either way, but those weather delays normally help out the home team. Although S-C is my favorite to win, this should be a very good game. It'll be the best team S-C has faced and the same true of Center...Reminds me a lot of a couple of years ago where both teams were undefeated going into the final week.

You want to beat Valle, you hit them in the mouth on every play. Lamar did that & Valle quit midway thru the 1st quarter.

Trinity is unstoppable. Just ask everyone about the D1 players they have.
......and how many years have they gone to Trinity?? Sorry, just had to ask. I have to say everyone who visits this boards even halfway regularly know that Trinity has their D1 prospects. As a parent I know all about the whole 'D1 prospect' and how many times these prospects actually end up at a D1 school. Then even if they do end up there, the number that actually play is even smaller. Trinity had D1 prospects last year, and they were a SUPERB team, but they were stopped!! I wish them nothing but the best to these boys. I know they've worked very hard and are thirsty for a state championship. Just like everyone else!! May the best 2 teams end up in that game!!

True. You could tell they were not fans of being physical. Receivers would catch the ball and pull up as they were about to get hit.

I was being sarcastic. I get it.

Cj is unstoppable this year. I called the KarKnee turbo and Ill be right about this one, 2

8-man - Worth County is the team to beat IMO. I think they will beat Sacred Heart in the championship.

C1 - Monroe City's offense is very, very good this year. I think they win it this year. (But is wide open)

C2 - Lamar.

C3 - Very wide open. I pick Chillicothe.

C4 - Webb City

C5 - Staley, but they might not even get out of that district.

C6 - Blue Springs, but also wide open.

I would never say that CJ will win but it was the first start for our QB and he has improved quite a bit since.
I know and I agree that he has improved and CJ vs. WC will be a close game. If both teams play perfect, then I would give the game to WC by a little. But we both know the game will not be played perfectly. Hopefully they both make it and don't overlook anyone.

Unless Liberty's Rawie (key will be O Line vs. Staley's outstanding D Line) goes wild Staley will be just fine. Some think the subsequent quarter vs. most likely Fort O in a rematch of Week 5 will be close................I do not.

So far, not too bad. Only one that my pick is out is C3. Blue Springs and Worth County will be playing for their respective titles next week.

Monroe City, Lamar, Webb City and Staley have all advanced to the semifinals.

Here are my picks for who they will play in the title game:

C1: Monroe City vs. Valle - Lockwood is good, but not Valle good.
C2: Lamar vs. Clark County - Surprised by how they handled N Callaway today. They are looking very strong and have come out of nowhere as the #4 seed in their district.
C3: Lutheran South vs. Blair Oaks - I think these games are toss-ups, but LS and BO are just a bit stronger.
C4: Webb City vs. Parkway Central - PC avenges their only loss of the year
C5: Staley vs. Fort Zumwalt North - Don't really know much about FZN or Pattonville

8M, as thought earlier, North Andrew is out. Worth County and Sacred Heart could be a classic.

C1: Valle Catholic alive and well. Percent chance up to 85-90.

C2: Lamar alive and well (shock). Percent chance about 70-75. Next week will tell all.

C3: Center was narrowly eliminated today. Wide open weeks ago I lean Blair Oaks especially after today's results.

C4: Webb City alive and well with ease. Percent chance about 98-99.

C5: Staley alive and well. Percent chance went up with Vianney's elimination to about 90.

C6: Blue Springs looked great today and is back in the title game. Percent chance of beating CBC about 35-40.

Cannot believe this is all almost over.............

I like all the picks except for Valle. They may win it, but Monroe City is special.

I'd give Valle a 60% chance and Monroe City 40%. Lockwood is going to get smoked and East Buch will probably lose by 2-3 TDs.

If Staley wins tonight, I will have picked 5 out of 7 correct. And the two that I miss were defeated by the champion.
