The VA has one federal employee for every 4 veterans it serves, and it’s budget is $240,000 per year per veteran that services are provided to.
I bet if you let veterans vote on doing away with the VA , and the govt cutting each of them a check for $120,00 each year and they provide their own care it would pass in a landslide and we save half of our tax dollars

There is a lot of bloat that could be fixed, no doubt. But maybe veterans' healthcare care shouldn't be the first place we look.

Wait a second. Not that long ago, anyone advocating for taking a single penny away from the Dept. of Defense hated soldiers, was unpatriotic, and was un-American. People on the left have been pointing out the ridiculous defense budget for years, and it's always been met with nebulous logic of "peace through strength" type arguments (and the obligatory accusations of being unpatriotic, etc.).
Pretty sure the only reason my man Elon was able to cut 6K employees from the corrupt and bloated Twitter workforce was his prescience in knowing that the witty, illuminating and server overloading output of Hugh Jasfan would be disappearing from X, and entering the dustbin of history.
Will be fascinating to see what the DOGE uncovers as far as waste, and brings to light. Don't really expect Congress to do much about it since it puts the crimp on their gravy trains but who knows.

The Department of Government Efficiency is off to a truly fantastic start with 2 leaders where 1 would do. I wonder if they even considered the irony. Not likely.
