I think this is a solid hire. Not a homerun but solid. Def next tier. Harsin or Campbell were the real homeruns. Outside of Scott or some other coordinator I don’t really know that you were going to get much better.
I'm mostly interested in what they allow him for coordinators and assistants and where he goes and what he does with that.
I am more interested in knowing where he has strong connections with regard to recruiting.
Pinkel got a lot of Texas kids. Where is this guys recruiting base?
He is 36 and has been a head coach less than 365 days in his life. We don’t really know what kind of recruiter he might be or what kind of staff he might be able to attract. This was a crap shoot.

RAW where are you? I'm needing help with my concerns. Do you realize we have gone from B O to E D? This may not be trending as well as was hoped.
Looking at App State's roster it appears that following NC, then GA, FLA & ALA had the most roster members.
Those are someone else’s players. He has only been a head coach 363 days.
More unfortunate than that, Raw will enlighten us that if you pronounce his name backward, it is Zit Nerd Isle.
His last two seasons as the OC at NC St. they were 9 win teams, his first season gone, they went 4-8, FWIW.
Like I said, high upside. Not a "sexy" hire, but could wind up being the best of the three. Hope he can recruit.

I hope 20 years from now he is a football legend. Sort of like Bear Bryant, Bobby Bowden, Barry Switzer, Lou Holts, Dr. Osborn type of name ;-)

Kirby Smart and Ed Orgeron should be up for some large increases now.
Looks like $4 million puts him in the top half of SEC contracts. All 4 coaches ahead of Edrink on the list have proven just a few things in their tenures. $4 mill not cheap
$4 million? Omg. The guy has one year of experience as a head coach. Five years ago he was a TE coach at Boise.
My friend Sam Pittman is "only" getting $3 million at Arkansas. Now, that's cheap. But not from where he started (Princeton).
Arkansas was still on the hook for Bielema's firing to the tune of 11 million which is now in the courts. And now on the hook for $10 for Morris. I think that limited what the hogs could offer at this time to any new coach, until that is all cleared up, especially Bielema's since that will be decided by lawsuit.
I think that is why Pittman was hired for whats considered cheap in the SEC.
Hoping that he can. I just talked to someone who I trust and respect and whose opinion I value highly. They attended the press conference in CoMo this morning and reported, "He (Drinkwitz) is an amazing speaker who reminds one of Dabo in tone and mannerisms." I think it fair to say that someone who expresses himself well with enthusiasm will probably be a decent recruiter.
I hope E.D. hires a dynamic DC. I'm okay with him calling his own plays like he did this year though it probably will be a tough gig in a power 5 conference if he doesn't eventually hire an OC.
Some on here would say he just needs to drive over to St. Louis because they have all the best players. Oh, wait, MU has to compete with teams on the same level....
It was a pitiful attempt at a swipe at the St. Louis posters who continually jabber on about how dominant the St. Louis players are on the all star private school teams...
