This being the first time in five years Kearney has exited FB early it will be interesting to see how their winter sports teams do. Last year I think it hurt them early but they recovered to get third place in State in both sports so February and March are what really matter anyway.

Mshsaa rules, regulations, etc are all voted on by member schools. They don't act independently.

Ultimately schools decide.

There are summer camps and many open gyms an athlete could have used to prove themselves before the season started. Like another poster said, A team peaking at he end of the season is all that matters, even conference play generally won’t begin until a few weeks into it

i get that and i have no kid in this predicament but i do know that some kids are. summer camps etc i agree with except in wrestling. pretty sure they have a wrestle off pre games starting to determine spots. also shorten the football season to reduce concussions

WE are MSHSAA, right? So when the mole writes that MSHSAA is so dumb he is really saying, "We are dumb!" And he is so right! I spent yesterday listening to MO playoff games on Prepcasts while I was watching Indiana State playoffs that were well produced and had decent play by play and color announcers. I will do the same today.
My question is, why in the h e double hockey sticks can't WE do that? Are Hoosiers so damn much smarter than Missouri Pukes (If you are from Indiana don't answer that.) or are we just lazy and backward thinking?.I think WE should demand an explanation and accounting from OUR association and if not satisfied then form a task force to dig into some alternative options to broadcast streams that don't work or merely frustrate the viewer.

MSHSAA used to do it right! Just a couple years ago. Broadcast on Fox Sports Midwest with pro announcers. Was either deemed too expensive or they realized they weren’t making money off those that stayed home.

They are finally doing it the right way and backing football up so that it does not end on Thanksgiving weekend. Surrounding states have crossover and have for years and they do just fine. We, too, shall survive.

I love college and high school more than NBA, but disagree about awful. The skill level of NBA players is amazing and have seen many good games. If you watch every game, you will get snoozers simply because of the fact that the season is long and not every game has the importance that it does in college or even high school. However, NBA playoffs are great.

I've often wondered what the deal is with that fencing in the bleachers...kinda like the chicken wire at "Bob's Country Bunker".

Sometimes the crowds can get pretty rowdy at Ampipe. So the fence stops them from throwing things. It also stops basket and volleyballs from getting thrown at the crowd.

It's not awful. Those are absolutely the best players in the world. Now, the atmosphere of a college basketball game is far superior making it a better soap opera. Lol. But man, NBA players are REALLY REALLY good right now.

In many cases I would agree with you... but in this one the other states are the ones that have it right.. It has always crazy to have football be finished Thanksgiving weekend. And you are complaining about how it is now, you are really going hate things next year and in the future. There is no way football can start any earlier, they start about three weeks too early now....
Very few teams end up having it come into play and the ones that do will be just fine. I know most schools would be happy to go shorthanded a few games if it meant that their football team was having that kind of success. I know Webb City used to schedule accordingly expecting to be playing football late.

Simply not true. It's a different game because of the 24 second clock. Not like you can run "motion" looks when you've got about 15-18 secs to do so (gotta get it up the floor first). It's naturally going to be isolation offense. But man, the talent of the individuals right now in the NBA is at a high for my lifetime. And that's saying a bunch. I'm 42. Lived through Bird, Magic, MJ, Malone, et al era.

I'll give you the drama queen stuff though. But heck, that's all pro athletes. Lotsa that stuff to see on Sunday in the Fall too.

Gotta agree with you ALL on this thread. Whole lotta talent and not much character in sports. Don't know a single Chiefs FAN who wasn't upset and embarrassed by their loss on Sunday ... Still gotta see the stupid clip of the four guys doing whatever self celebration they were doing in the end zone celebrating in Chief's uniform on EVERY sports show for days after the game. What IS that nonsense and who doesn't have the smarts to knock it off when your team is embarrassingly bad?! With each passing year I have less respect for the talent devoid of character.
