THE OZARKS
The Bombers haven’t finished over .500 since 2006.
Currently they are 4-1 with 5 weeks to go in the regular season.
They’ve got a tough road ahead, but it would be pretty cool to see Steve Ary pull another program out of the cellar.

The Bombers were 7-66 overall in the 7 years before Ary took the reins with 3 winless campaigns in that time frame.

So far Ary has had two .500 seasons with bombers as his best finishes in his 5 years at the helm, including 2 playoff wins.

Will year 6 be their year?

Fun fact, I found an online source that has Kickapoo playing Mountain Home in 2001, with the Chiefs being victorious by a score of 20-17

Mountain Home would finish that season 5-5 and the Chiefs would finish that year 9-3 that year under the direction of ole Thompson, losing in the state playoffs to Jeff City by 5, the other 2 losses for the Chiefs that year were a 10 point loss to Hillcrest and an 11-point loss to Ozark.
The Poo played games against teams from 3 different states that year.

Hillcrest would finish 9-2 losing to Poplar Bluff in the regular season, beating WP by 4 in districts and losing to Poo in playoffs by 22 after beating them in the regular season.

This isn't Arkansas ...... Nobody Cares.

Been following Mtn Home closely as well. They've got two of the best coaches in the history of the SCA calling plays on both sides of the ball with Ary and Acklin.

Acklin came back last year after leaving for a 1 year stint at Cabool working as a coordinator under his former player(Spittler) and I believe that one year was to secure his retirement before going back to Mtn Home 🤣🤣

I remember Ary Having a ton of success at Mountain Grove, but never could really replicate that at West Plains. Acklin is a great coach.

your memory is off then. Ary turned around a team that was flat awful and had some really good seasons.

And no offense to Coach Acklin. But Coach Ary IMO is a few steps ahead of him as a coach. Ary had success at Willow for a lengthy period of time when no one else has been able to come close there. Ary had a great run at Grove. Ary turned around an awful WP team and they are still reaping the benefits of his work there. And now he has turned around an awful Mountain Home team to be respectable.

Don't necessarily disagree with you, but there weren't many programs as awful as MVBT right up until Acklin took over. Much worse than Willow or WP ever was. Liberty hadn't won a game in 3 years when Acklin was hired. But your points are all great ones.

yeah as I said no offense at all to Coach Acklin. Great coach and his legacy is still in place as they are benefiting from his work to this day.

There were a few good CJ teams in that district those years as well.
It seems like CJ hasn’t been able to replace the Weston kids. I know there were other good players on those teams, but Ray Weston really made all the pistons fire for that Buckmaster offense.
The best one was when the CJ QB had run for the 1st down to ice the game against Webb and he fumbled in the process of sliding to the ground.

Was at that game. Weather was nasty, and that loss was heart-wrenching.
