Where else can you coach football and experience an Andy Williams Christmas without ever leaving town?
When I was in High School I thought I wanted to be a hs football coach and if you'd asked me then, my dream job would've been Branson. If you have the ability, a winner in Branson could really be lucrative.
I hear that sometimes but not sure how much of a factor it really is. All of the people I know from Branson were there all 12 years. I don't think it's nearly as much of a thing as it might be for Waynesville as a military town.I would love to be in Branson, BUT the only fallback is alot of families move in and out because of the Tourism and entertainment industries. You may not have kids play 4 years for you and have a revolving roster.
Or the Baldknobbers?!?! Those guys are great!Where else can you coach football and experience an Andy Williams Christmas without ever leaving town?
You are so spot on about Waynesville. That's why the job Coach Vernon did down there for years was so solid. Lot of respect for his tenure there.I hear that sometimes but not sure how much of a factor it really is. All of the people I know from Branson were there all 12 years. That is really not the case any more. Certainly not as much coming and going as the boom in the early 90s. But then again, that was when the Pirates were rolling. But it was also when they were a 3A school. Class 5, especially that League, is a whole other animal. Branson has talent (maybe not as much as some like to think) but when you face a schedule like that you better have a load of it.... The current facilities are great. They look as good as anyone.... But that old feeling of John Earl Chase Stadium (there old home) just cant be matched. It was truly a special place and one that others dreaded coming to.The problem with Branson is it is very transient. It is very hard to build anything because kids are always coming and going.
Come and see your Yakov!Don’t forget Shoji Tabuchi!
Wayne Newton’s soon was a heck of a long snapper.
Anyone else out there remember back when the Baldknobbers and Presley's Mountain Jubilee was pretty much it? Along with zillions of miniature golf courses and cheap motels?Or the Baldknobbers?!?! Those guys are great!
Since Wayne only had two daughters and no "soons" , I don't know if I believe that one.Wayne Newton’s soon was a heck of a long snapper.
Absolutely. Also remember being able to drive across town and it taking less than an hour or so. Man that place has exploded in 30 yrs or so.Anyone else out there remember back when the Baldknobbers and Presley's Mountain Jubilee was pretty much it? Stayed at the Big Cedar Lodge down south of the state park last weekend. They actually advertise the place as a "Wilderness Adventure" lol Toyota sponsors free fishing tournament there just have to prove you own one of their trucks when you enterAlso remember when the original Dannas seemed like it was out in the country.
Haha back when my Dad was being raised down that way NOBODY could have imagined it would become what it is today. Heck when I was a kid the big attraction was Rockaway Beach. Look at THAT area now.So kind of like it is now, plus dixie stampede
The only real flop was Celebration City. Not sure what genius thought building another amusement park in town (8 miles from Silver Dollar City) was a good idea...........Absolutely. Also remember being able to drive across town and it taking less than an hour or so. Man that place has exploded in 30 yrs or so.
And all of them just swimming in taxpayer dollars. The only real flop was Celebration City. Not sure what genius thought building another amusement park in town (8 miles from Silver Dollar City) was a good idea...........
GOOD CATCH!Grand Palace was also a flop. Not sure why they couldn't have made it into a better big concert venue. Most major stars seem to perform at places like the Black Oak Amphitheater in Lampe, or elsewhere.
The Dixie Stampede was my spot! Since the name change- I have stopped going…Or the Baldknobbers?!?! Those guys are great!
The Branson School District is truly in a unique position. Most of its funding comes from the Entertainment and local Tourist market. Without giving up who I am, I can tell you when I worked in that district long ago, The local economy provided 97 percent of its funding. That district could do what they wanted to, when they wanted to - with no hesitation. It was an awesome place to work.Yeah I think Branson would be a nice gig. I've know quite a few people who have lived there and they liked it a lot, just can be difficult to find affordable housing and traffic are really the only complaints although traffic isn't nearly as bad as it used to be when there was no good way to get through town other than 76.
The district is well funded and their facilities are great. Their football stadium is easily my favorite of al the ones I've been to and every time I've been they have nice crowds even though I've never seen them win a game. I've watched both Webb City and Carthage play there many times. Had some Branson students say "hey good game Carthage!" to me on the way out of the stadium after we had rolled them a few years ago, made an impression on me regarding the sportsmanship and class there.
