Monroe City v Valle: the real question is...

Monroe City and Valle have a connection. Mark Benson (who is my uncle) played at Monroe City and coached at Valle. He was Valle’s coach for their first two state titles.
Mark Benson was my college roommate and we coached together at Valle for 3 years... we now go to Mizzou games together all the time. Great dude and one of my very best friends!

Mark is a great dude.
Always thought he was the coach that created the monster at Valle. Some others have also gone a great job keeping it fed.
I like and respect Mark, but Ralph Thomure is the coach that put Valle on the map, and created the monster that is Valle football .

Which fan base will have the best tailgate? Monroe and Ste Gen produce beer drinkers just as much as football players!
This is one of if not the closest and best matchups coming next weekend. Cannot wait to see it hopefully in person.......

Says the person who picked East Buchanan to beat Monroe City.
Did you pick all the games correctly this week?
I saw Monroe City get shellacked in the title game last year. Not impressed. The last several semifinal/finals teams I've seen from NE MO were less than impressive, to put it nicely. That's what I was basing that pick on.

Just saying that your view of Monroe City has 0% impact on the outcome.

And this is not the same Monroe City team as last year’s. But basing opinions on last year’s team that had 3 regular season losses or teams that were not Monroe City sounds like very sound analysis.

It wasn't analysis. It was a score prediction. Fairly random, actually, as I did not feel that strongly about it, nor did I really care.

I was referring to your comment about Monroe City vs. Valle not being close. If you have had no idea about Monroe City when picking the previous game, I guess you have no idea about the next game. I am not the one who said it wouldn’t be close, so whether I got all my picks right is irrelevant.

Guess I was wrong?
Next time I'll pick Monroe City. Learned a big lesson there.
Since you refuse to reveal your picks, I suppose you won't offer a prediction of any title games either?
Please, share your knowledge.

I just find it kinda weird that of the two responses to his post, he didn't choose the playful way out. Rufus R. Jones gifs don't grow on trees.
I'm not getting the big deal. I was wrong on a pick. I was pointing out he was wrong on a pick as well? I feel like I'm missing something. Throwing a fit?

Just seems like you have some kind of grudge against the region. We still have good football teams from time to time. We'll see soon enough if Monroe City can take the final step, but this year's version is better than the prior.

I've no grudge against any region. I love it. Still sad the Pear Tree burned. Love the Mexican joint in Monroe City. Much respect for the teams coming out of northeast MO in the 80s and 90s.
No, I do not believe the level of competition in the area to be very high in recent years. No reason to take it personal, it's not your fault.

Westran and Macon have both produced high quality final and semi-final teams. There's state titles for Centralia, South Shelby, and Clark County since your timeframe mentioned.

I miss the Pear Tree as well. Will be moving to Oregon soon, so I'm going to miss a ton of great food joints all across the state.

Didn't realize you include Centralia and Westran as part of the region. Didn't see 06? South Shelby. Clark County in 07 was a surprise winner, very fast defense.
Oregon will be an awesome place to live. Not being able to watch MO football will suck, though.

Wow, will miss all of your informative posts on here but wish you well. Not many on here have the time, or the will, to dig out some of the enlightening material you post. What takes you to the far northwest, employment, retirement or more liberal mj laws? jk:D

The Mexican place is good, but it was awesome when it was the Snack-n-Pac. My parents house is less than a mile from there.

Pork burgers
They'll most likely have some Oberle sausage there!
The true question will be how full will the Valle tailgaters' bellies be full of liver dumplings from Thanksgiving!

Lots of Catholics in that town too.
As a small kid many years ago growing up there, there were most of the times five different places to attend Mass on a Sunday morning. A big part part of the MC success is Holy Rosary, a k-8 with almost 200 students, which allows the public school to spend even more on their students. May be the smallest school in the state with two feeder programs feeding in.
