Baseball tracks the performance of the umps. Last night the homeplate ump missed on 19 balls/strikes calls.

SIXTEEN of those calls favored the Cubs.
SIXTEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How long before technology is used to call balls and strikes? It's already available.

Seems I talked about this a while back. I just don't get it. Gotta be a union thing.

The pitch tracker technology has really made the umps look bad. In game 3 Lester threw the same pitch outside 3 times. It was called a ball twice but then called strike 3 on a 3-2 count. Same exact location. The batter had already taken off for first. He could only look back and shake his head. If the batters can tell where a pitch is from the angle they're looking why can't the umps do a better job?

Imagine this technology when Maddux was pitching.....

He still would have dominated. Ask every player who played with him. He took advantage of the zone, but could do whatever he wanted with a baseball

Ask every player? Bahahahahahahaha
These same players who covered for their steroid using teammates are going to tell the truth? come on man. what the new technology shows us is how flawed umps really are and how results have been dictated by umps for 100+ years.

Are you stupid? Don't answer....I already know

I said nothing that would have been close to saying umpires have great zones. Guys like Joe West should be forced into retirement, so he can work on his country albums.

Dude, Maddux didn't throw 95-100mph. He and Glavine would have gotten lit up if they had to throw ball in the strike zone consistently instead of consistently getting calls 3- 4" off the plate.

Ex-freakin-zactly. Every player in MLB knew those guys got special treatment. But it would be considered "bush league" to complain.

Yes. the entire league would have magically been able to make contact with his change-up in this fantasy world

If he had to throw it for a strike? YES!!! When he was getting calls waaay out of the zone they had to chase that crap that they couldn't hit.

I don't think he would have been as good, but it's not like they knew a change was coming. And his fastball moved all over the place. He was off the charts good with the zone he got, he'd still be pretty good without it. I mean, he did have the accuracy to put it right there with all of the movement. Pretty sure he could've adjusted the 4" needed if the zone was tighter.

And if he had it would have been a lot more hittable.
