Not sure there is a winner in this whole fiasco at Columbia. But if there is, I'd have to think it is Missouri State, or any other university in-state for that matter.. Seniors across the state are going to take a closer look at all the options. I'm a little biased because I am a Missouri State alum, but man oh man does Mizzou look like a rough choice right now. Heard a parent today say that "they are not thrilled about the idea of their child going to MU"

Maybe the message at MU is one of student unity, but I am having a hard time seeing it on social media. And I live in a town just an hour from Columbia w/ a lot of Mizzou graduates. Your all's thoughts? Does this turn possible future students away, or promote a culture of acceptance/unity and draw more in (specifically minority)?

I would think the next 6 months will have a lot to do with their future. They will be hiring a new President and Chancellor in the upcoming months. These hire will come under close scrutiny in my mind and will have much to do with the future of Mizzou. Good luck to them!

Why would anybody in their right mind want that job right now?

It appears to me the students and athletes have all the power at Mizzou.

In a couple years no one is going to remember or care

You couldn't have paid me to go to SMS but whatever. I didn't go to Mizzou but the programs at Southwest were pretty unappealing to me. MU business school places kids better up here in STL

Well, fantasy football seemed like a topic that needed to be discussed in the last one. Are you saying race relations are less important that fantasy football?! HOW DARE YOU, RACIST!!!! Lol. I mean I hope it doesn't, but honestly didn't think it was that ridiculous of question... Sorry to waste your time with such a silly inquiry. My apologies, I'll go play with my toys in the corner while the grown ups talk.

Didn't mean to offend you. To me it seems like a controversy that shouldn't be in that big of a political forum. A Missouri issue, and a sports issue, but not national political debate. That is just my opinion. I wasn't calling it silly.

Would agree with all of those things. I don't know that the news would have made it out of Columbia had it not been for the football team taking a side. I'm afraid there are a lot more people talking about this than we would like, maybe I'm wrong on that... Out of curiosity, what do you think will be the current event topic that is brought up tonight (other than Syria/Russia)? The Fight for $15 seems like a decent pick, I still think the Mizzou debacle has a chance to be presented to candidates.. Would love to hear Trump rip the GA that started the hunger strike, that would make for a good sound bite I'm sure. Lol.

I don't know that much about what the rest of the country is talking about. I know it is national because of the sports conversations. I don't know what the networks are talking about because I haven't watched in a few days. If they are going to talk about Mizzou in a bigger issue picture with Yale, I can definitely see that.
I wonder if some of the news about vehicle recalls lately might be discussed.

Does anyone else get a chuckle when Trump and others say the media and country is too PC, but then throw a fit over "gotcha" questions? I thought they didn't want the PC BS?

Many moons ago when I graduated from SMS, our CIS dept.(IT) kicked the $&!+ out of Mizzou's. That has been a while, however.

CBS and the cable news outlets are talking about the Mizzou thang. There is an AP article by Ralph D. Russo in out paper today on the sports page. The headline is "Mizzou latest campus where athletes prompt change." He seems to think this a great thing that's happening in the world of college athletics. Maybe one of you computer savvy guys can post that fro everybody.

Well Expect, I watched all but the last 10 minutes of the debate last night (past my bed time, fell asleep at commercial). And what can I say, I was wrong and you were right. Assuming that it didn't come up in the last 10 minutes while I was snoozing. Maybe it was a silly question afterall!
