Missouri Basketball Hirings and Vacancies

The Harrisonville School District welcomes Mr. Jeff Langrehr to the staff as a dual credit/at-risk teacher and head boys basketball coach at Harrisonville High School.

He is currently serving as an English teacher and the head boys’ basketball coach at Castle View High School in Castle Rock, Colorado, however, he retired from Gardner-Edgerton High School in Kansas where he worked for nine years. He has also taught and coached in Great Bend, Kansas for 22 years.

Mr. Langrehr received his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University.

As a coach, he surpassed 300 wins as a Kansas high school basketball coach and led four basketball teams to the final four (winning two state championships). He was the Kansas Coaches Association Boys’ Basketball Coach of the Year. He also coached baseball in Kansas and was named the 5A Kansas Baseball Coach of the Year by the Kansas Baseball Association twice.

He is married and has three children, two adult children and one son who will be a junior

Trenton hired King City coach Corbin Coe as it’s new boys coach. So King City is now open

Ash Grove will be a load for sure in a year or two. Their jr high is the best i've seen lately for small school boys.

Carl Junction new coach will be Kyle Williams, Assistant Principal at CJ. A CJ administrator told me that he had coached some at Lamar.
Wasn't he the head coach at CJ a few years ago, before Brock was hired, and before he became an assistant principal?

I don't know. That's why I asked the administrator--I wasn't sure of his bb background . They assured me CJ was in good hands. I know CJ had a District championship and good teams .
I did some research. Kyle Williams was the head coach at CJ for 2 seasons, before he moved into administration and before Skip Brock came to CJ. Before Kyle came to CJ, he was head coach at Lamar for 2 years, and before that was a head coach out in Kansas. CJ won district championships both years that he coached here. Lamar won districts his second year there. Based on his coaching record, we should be in good hands. We just need more talent coming thru now.

East Carter voted to bring Jordan Penn back as head coach after the community rallied around him to be rehired after the school board voted to fire him from the same position.

Good to hear for a great guy who does a great job!

Always good to hear the community give their input in favor of a guy who more than likely did nothing to get fired in the first place.

Probably did no wrong other than pi$$ off the wrong BOE member(s).

Yeah, and not the first one. The problem is that even if the kid was playing full time and a good kid the poor coach may not be filling in all the blanks his parent has in his head.
Tough gig!

He was down around Hartville last I heard, right? Has he been coaching? Have kids that are HS aged?

Fred is almost old enough to have grandkids in HS, in fact plenty old enough. Great guy, he can tell a good story with the best of them. Right out of the Gene Bess coaching tree, he knows how hard you need to work to be successful.

I have no idea where he’s been the last several years. I did have the pleasure of briefly meeting him about five years ago at a Jv tournament in Bell City.

Had a son that played at Hartville and then transferred to Willard. That couldn't have been more than a few years ago. I knew Fred was working in Springfield at the time. Not sure what he was doing though.

That's the one I was thinking of! Thanks 3R. I knew Oran didn't sound right...but too lazy to look it up. I was confused for sure. Doesn't take much with me.
