Miller and Scout prefer the one in the middle

This post is a little misleading, as you well know Duck.

Millions of Americans, under the Obama administration, have simply given up looking for work, therefore they are not counted as unemployed.

A better question might be, how many people are on government assistance now, vs Bush or Clinton?

Bush was a poor president, while being a good man.

Clinton was a good president, while being a despicable human being.

Both were miles ahead of our current failure at running this country.

Since I don't do Ducks tweets, was he saying I thought Bush was good?

So you are telling me that no one had given up looking for work under Bush? You are better than this. Those are talking points. You are better than talking points.

What makes Bush a good man? His drug issues? Being AWOL from his responsibilities with the National Guard?
Having the state of Texas build a new stadium for his Rangers and then pocketing the profits?

I am confident that Scout was no Bush fan and am very sure I wasn't. I would still take him back without reservation to replace Obama.
Yes indeed thousands killed in a war that was never needed. (war crimes) not to mention billions that went down a black hole. Much better than Obama

There are too many good attributes for me to list about George, do your own research, he was a good man, although admittedly , not the best presidency.

Talking points, or the truth?

And yes, much better than Obama,

He may have made some mistakes, but he loved his country, unlike Obama.

He also has never publicly put down this administration, unlike Obama, who blames Bush for all the ills in this country.

You do realize I am retired and counted among those that have "left the work force" right? MANY baby boomers have retired and are counted in that group, which makes absolutely NO sense on any level.

I will not argue with that, but lots of prominent dems agreed with him.
This is true but it's also fair to say it's extremely difficult to imagine any D president going to Iraq in 2003 (and a lot of smarter Rs too for that matter)

You're better than this. I have no doubt Obama loves America just as I know bush did.

I may question the actions of many but I believe strongly that politicians at all points on the spectrum love our country and want to make it a better place. They just have different visions for what that means.

I don't think Obama has been an awesome president or anything like that but it's basically impossible for him to be worse than the person who started a disastrous war and destroyed the budget for a generation while running an administration that was mostly philosophically opposed to regulating the banking system in a coherent manner until it was too late

Participation in the core ages of the labor market isn't where it was but it is improving.

As you note the total percentage of adults working likely will not increase long term due to increases in life expectancy

I would love to have him as my neighbor. I can agree that people seem to find him a genuine, likable person. But I wouldn't let him make decisions of any real importance.

Name 10 since there are so many. Defend your position, don't just cop out with "do your own research".

I honestly have doubt's about how much Obama loves America. He may love a portion of it's citizen's, but on the whole, I don't believe he is proud of the USA.

There is a lot to like about him personally. I would add "did work to save the banking system in 2008" as a major policy accomplishment - they failed to help impede the car crash but they did work tirelessly to start to clean up the mess they had made.

#4 is a lot less impressive than you think it is, he's old money and very connected. His grandfather was a Senator from Connecticut in addition to everything his dad did. His path to the Ivy league was like Al Gore's or like McCain's to the Naval Academy - the last name was all that mattered. Bush scored in the low 1200s on the SAT. If his parents were middle class people he'd have never been in at Yale with that score.

I don't think grades are the be all end all, but I think the uncomfortable truth is he was in over his head as the President and he was not smart enough to know which of his advisers were giving him good counsel. Bush's mistakes largely came from trusting people with a very bad understanding of fiscal policy (the supply siders) and the neocon warmongers who pushed him into Iraq.

You surely did NOT just count No Child Left Behind as 'good thing' he accomplished.

Bahaha. Typical republican achievement.
Require states to implement it without funding it properly so it's done half arse.

I had a feeling this was coming when I read his original post

When I read 6-10 and they were all expansions of the federal government I had a feeling he would be pointing that out

Tens of thousands died under Democrat rule ...

WWII 400,000+
Vietnam 56,000+

Guess History is only relevant if your a Republican...

If your going to name my president a killer of 4,100 then back at you with 456,000+

And 600000 died in the civil war! Oh noes we can't have republicans!

The cause of a war is also important, don't you think?

Ag, I meant to ask the same thing 3R did. How in the word can you call NCLB a good thing? Like Veer said, it's more government, not local or state, but more FEDERAL government. Something conservatives hate. It's been a total failure from the word go, and it was set up to fail. From the beginning to this point, EVERY student was to be proficient in every subject. That is not possible, it never was. IEP students, students with Mental Retardation. EVERY SINGLE ONE. It's a disaster. Now states are having to add more absurd requirements to just get around NCLB because it was so awful. Why in the world would you say it was an attribute? That is what you were originally calling your list, although, I would consider it an accomplishment.

My post was listing 10 reasons Bush was a good man.

His thought process on this legislation was that it would help all children learn and be more successful, that is the thinking of a good man. That it failed to accomplish set goals, makes it bad policy, does not make Bush a bad person.

It shows how incompetent he was, because anyone with common sense could see it had no chance of ever working. It's basic principles were flawed from the beginning.

Evidently not too many had common sense, since it passed both the house and senate with massive bi-partisan support.

By your same logic Obama and Obamacare makes the President a great person.

Trying to supply affordable healthcare to all Americans is the work of a good man.

Since it is still wildly unpopular and seems to have hurt the average American more than helped, it may be a failed policy. That doesn't mean Obama is a bad person.
