Martan Kilcoyne, on the great TMA, mentioned this morning he was talking with the Hazelwood East Coach this season about coming out to do a feature. He pulled up, principal told him he wasn't allowed to be there. Coach said that they had to get approval from the A.D. and had to get permission from the Super to come out. He wanted to call, email him on the spot but the principal said no so Martan left and didn't get to cover the team. To me, that sounds incredibly dumb to tell the local tv station that you don't want your kids showcased. Has this been a problem anywhere else?

Sounds more like this reporter did not follow proper protocol. Public education institutions have a set procedure for media coming on campus. You can thank your litigious neighbors for this.

At the end of the day, I don't disagree with the sentiment of getting kids showcased, but how about the PROFESSIONAL ADULT (reporter) does his job the right way. It isn't hard to verify these requirements and someone who works in the media should know this.

That was the first time he had ever been aware of that. The Coach admitted he did not let Martan know the protocol. My point was, it's always been the local medial show up and shoot the game then get out. Why, all of a sudden, would the schools make it difficult to have your kids highlighted?
