Maryville 72 Cameron 0 half

Lamar ran in to this against warsaw a couple years ago. we were up big and even the freshman were torching their d so to keep it under 100 we ran out of bounds at the 5 and took 4 knees 2-3 times. Then we got called classless for taking a knee. If you are that much better you are gonna get ripped by somebody no matter what you do

and on the comment that people cant afford to live in Maryville, then move, I lived in the ville for a long time, but your telling me people are moving then they must be old with no kids because you have south nod cooping with Jefferson, you have north nod coop with west nod, nod holt coops with south holt, I don't know if ne went with Stanberry but there was talk with that, so you got people moving but those schools cant even field their own teams, bs, you have to pay the piper, if you want nice things you have to pay for it,

The cooping of the small nodaway schools has some to do with the towns getting smaller because of the Energizer factory shutting down in Maryville. Another reason you may see Maryville go back to Class 2 in few years.

Get so tired of people who never coach thinks it is wrong to quit trying
to score because that makes the other team feel bad. WRONG the
emphasis on keep scoring is wrong I don't care if the cheer leaders
are playing you do things to not score or you score slowly. Anybody
that thinks all schools care about how good their sports are you are
fooling yourself but the kids are the ones you care about. Go talk to
a Cameron player and see how getting beat that bad was.

You're so smart

Stupid people will complain no matter what you do.

Can't believe Louisville is still trying to score on Florida State. How dare they run up the score on them. Should've started punting on first down and let FSU score a few more times. They shouldn't upset their feelings like that. It's almost like this is the real world and you have to earn what you want.

That is college football this is high school. Just so hard to understand adults
thinking it is okay to demoralize kids beyond me when we lose what high school
sports is about. Teaching respect is huge in high school athletics.

yeah... Like respect your opponent enough to treat them like a junior high team. Good call.

Again you need to understand kids remember the score board not what your doing.
You can't really believe scoring 92 points in a football game is a educational plus
for kids. I coached high school football for 28 years and we got beat 45 or 50 to nothing
but the opposing coach allowed us to compete once the game was decided so you can tell
your kids something positive. What do you tell your kids when they allow 92 points great
job guys didn't allow 100. Your comment reminds me of so many school board members
that get on boards but are clueless about education, all they care about is there agenda. Maryville
is a power house sure their coach is a decent man but the kids at Cameron have to walk the
halls as the biggest disgrace in the school. I have seen first hand how kids are beat down
by being humilated in sports. I had a basketball team get beat 99 to 32 and they tried to score
a 100. The kids where never the same after that with their competitive spirit, didn't matter what
was said to them they knew they where horrible. And don't fool yourself kids tie their sport
performance to their self worth more than you think. No matter how many times as a coach
you tell them they are not tied to each other. This topic could be debated for ever.

running clock couldve started in the first half if both teams agreed to it. that would have kept maryvilles points down a bit.

Does MSHSAA still have the number of qtrs that can be played by a player in a week rule?

I think the rules should be changed to a running clock at any time the score is above 40 regardless of the quarter. It is not often a team can come back from that kind of deficit. There was a game a few years ago Maryville was down 30-0 at the half and scored 36 unanswered points to win the game, but that is very rare. If there is a rule that says you can start the running clock earlier then it needs to be broadcast so that everyone is aware of it. I personally have not heard of it but think its a good idea.
Richmond and Northeast KC started the running clock in the second quarter, before just calling the game off at half.

MSHSAA RUNNING CLOCK RULES:

The point differential applies to all football contests. The National Federation's Football Rules permit state associations to adopt a "running clock" when a point differential is attained. The Football Advisory Committee, with approval of the Board of Directors has approved the following plan for all football playing schools for all levels: After the first half, any time the score differential reaches 35 points or more, for 11-man and 45 points or more for 8-man, the following changes, and only these changes, will be made regarding rules determining when the clock will be stopped: The clock will be stopped when: 1. An official's time-out is called, except: a) when a first down is declared b) following a change of team possession c) to dry or change the game ball 2. A charged time-out is called; 3. At the end of a period; 4. A score occurs. NOTE: The clock will continue to run in all other situations. NOTE: The use of this rule does not preclude the use of NFHS Rule 3-1-3 which reads: "A period or periods may be shortened in any emergency by agreement of the opposing coaches and the referee. By mutual agreement of the opposing coaches and the referee, any remaining periods may be shortened at any time or the game terminated."

By the rules you cant have running clock first half but can end early if agreed by both coaches.

INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPATION LIMITATIONS
a. No player may play in more than four quarters on one calendar date.
b. No player may play in a total number of quarters for the season that exceeds six times the number of games played by the higher team on which he plays.
c. Each school shall be responsible for keeping a record of the participation of players of both teams.
d. MSHSAA By-Law 3.23.1 was amended by revising the way quarters of participation in kicking downs are now to be counted for play by counting kicking downs within a game as only 1 quarter of participation.

For the guy that was wondering about my record I was the defensive head coach for 25 years. We had some very good teams and some average teams and some weak teams.. I have coached in 262
games until I retired .And you saying pulling out starters that is a no brainer but if the competitive
advantage is such that your younger kids will keep scoring you as a coach have control of that. Orchard Farm was beating winfield 48 to 0 friday night final score 48 to 7. Head coach very good
friend played his freshmen and where instructed no passes ever and will run up the middle behind
a very bad off linemen. They got 0 first downs. So you can talk until you get horse but there is no way you should ever run the score up to the amount of 92 points.

I don't know why I keep responding since you aren't bothering to read the posts of those who disagree with you but ... Maryville is that much better than a few of their opponents. In the past they have taken their entire freshmen team to away games and the freshmen have played the entire second half and outscored their opponent 28-0 (in the half) while only running up the middle and not passing. If you have any more confusion please reread the previous sentence.

the guy that called me a whiner you are as clueless about coaching high school
kids as I have ever seen. Amazing how I was given conf coach of the year twice in basketball
and not because I won but for treating kids with respect. Glad you don't coach you would be
heartless towards kids on other teams. High school coaches are educators first key word
education. 10 percent of my salary was coaching 90 percent teaching. I hope your kids where
treated with respect if they played sports and they learned solid life lessons. Getting humilated is
not a solid life lesson. You have never been with kids that lost by a huge margin and try to make
since of it I have many times and those are the moments that you teach them to be tougher than
the situation but you DON"T in any way justify what the other coach did.
