ST. LOUIS, MO --- The Magic basketball organization will offer it’s first annual MIDWEST SPRING EXPOSURE SHOWCASE at the St. Louis Sports Center Good Friday, April 2 and Saturday, April 3.

This exposure event is intended to be the largest and most organized exposure event ever in the state. Up to 350 boys and girls basketball players grades 8-12 are expected to attend the event, co-presented by the St. Louis Sports Center and sponsored by Mosports.com , the Missouri-based rivals.com high school sports web site.

The purpose of the event is to allow for players to be seen, ranked and evaluated by the Showcase staff, as well as gaining exposure to college coaches from around the Midwest. NCAA rules prohibit Division I and II coaches from attending events outside the open period, which is now limited to the last two weeks of July. Players in this event will be evaluated for their ability to play college basketball, as determined by our staff of evaluators, which will include college coaches, recruiters, and trained staff with six to ten years of experience in accurately assessing the potential recruit-ability level of high school players.

Players registering as individual players are evaluated in terms of offensive skills, defensive skills, quickness, strength, physicality, and assessed for level of basketball IQ. They are then ranked on a ascending scale from 1 (high school player) to 10 (high-impact, Division I player). For example, Harrison Barnes, Ames, Iowa high’s number one recruit in the nation, headed to North Carolina would be a “10” in his overall ranking. Ricky Kreklow, the Rock Bridge High star headed for the University of Missouri, would be ranked as an 8 (High Division I player). Rationale for these rankings are provided with the player’s comprehensive evaluation, which follows by hard copy or email 6-8 weeks after the event. Individuals are assigned to 8-10 player units coached by showcase staff.

Spring and summer travel and AAU teams may also enroll this year as units. They are coached by their own coaches, and will play in a five-game round-robin format against each other. They will not play against players from the individual division as this would not be fair competitively. They are evaluated in each game played generally and after-event general team evaluations are provided to the team and coach after the effect. Players in team divisions may upgrade to individual registration status and receive the full comprehensive evaluation by request.

Each player in the event, if deemed potentially recruit-able is placed into an after-event report splitting out participants in terms of Division I, II, III, NAIA, and junior-college potential players. These reports are sent to all coaches in the Midwest in our email data base at no cost to college coaches. Individual player profiles will be sent to all coaches in our data base at levels which our staff believes they can play.

REGISTRATION: A printable registration brochure can be printed from this page by going to this link: http://www.magicbball.org/photos/tid/TZ0087/user/Magic_Showcase_2010.pdf

Individual player registration is $125 for two days and $95 for one day. Two-day players will play five games and one-day players will play three games. One-day players may choose between playing on Friday or Saturday. Teams participating pay $40 per player or $400 for rosters up to 10-players, with $25 per player charged for every player over 10. As noted, team division players may “upgrade” to individual registration and evaluation status through the registration process.

For more information or registration material, go to www.magicbball.org and click on “Missouri Magic Basketball Club”. Info on the Showcase and printable brochures can be obtained there as well. Hard copies of the brochure will be mailed to individual players in our data base and to coaches throughout Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Tennesee and Nebraska. Showcase registrations are due one week prior to the event.
