Mac county over Monett? ??

Cassville beat Reeds spring and St. James both outta conference, both Class 3 and both 5-2! Cassville is 4-3
Mv also beat reeds spring and Springfield catholic class 3 6-1
Seneca beat Osage 4-3 class 3
Lamar just whooped Valle catholic.
Monett beat both their outta conference games as did Mac county.
I guess what I'm getting at is the level of football might be down but the Big 8 is still one of the premier small conferences in the state! One thing I think about class 3 is that Lamar has set the bar so high that everyone thinks Class 3 is terrible because nobody could beat Lamar! A side from Lamar and Trinity put the top 10 class 2 schools against the top 10 class 3 and I bet class 3 wins 8 outta 10! I take a lot of pride being from Monett, The Big 8, and mostly SWMO! Meet some people at the lake this year from Hermann! We were talking football, mostly about Webb City and Lamar and one thing the guy said to me is they take football a lot more serious down in SWMO, more then they do anywhere else in the state and I took a lot of pride in that! One thing no one has really talked about is how young Seneca is! They could be building so special down there.
Seneca has 7 seniors who will be missed but the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes are stacked with talent. It's going to be an exciting few years down here.

LOL FourPlay what do you have against the class 3 football schools in SWMO. Were you fired by one of them or several. You are the one that spewed this same crap last year and was proven wrong. You were wrong then Monett went on to win class 3. I tend to think Seneca or possible Aurora have a good chance to make it to the Semis or finals this year.

Last year you said
"I would tend to agree with the guys from the north. Class 3 in Southwest Missouri is not as good as it has been. With Lamar being the exception, The Big 8 is probably as bad as it has been in the last 20 years. Yes, I have seen all 8 teams play."

Bullit, you are true fan. We will just have to agree to dis-agree, about what constitutes a "good" team. I have seen some really good teams come out of this area, including your 77 state champion team. I just do not see the same level of play, right now.

So if the majority of the Big 8 teams have beat non-big 8 teams....does that mean that the level of play is down in the entire state?

Possible, and I could agree with that for example class 4 is way weaker today than it was in the 70's or early 80's I remember watching the 81 Parkwood Bears win class 4 back when Class 4 was the largest, that was a strong class 4 school. I would have to agree because I don't think many of Webb's current teams could have done what they did if class 4 was the largest.

But just remember classification are way different today then they were back in the 70's and 2 more classes have been added. But really I have seen alot of football and it is just a different time then it was back in the 70's,

I love when this conversation comes up. It's not just the Big 8, all of class 3 is down. The big 8 is probably still one of the best class three conferences, but the level of football is just weak all over the state in class 3. We got coaches selling all their kids a bunch of BS about how good they are, but in reality it's just not the quality of football that it has been. You can be a mediocre team and make a run in this class...

I think alot of people are saying that because Lamar the class 2 champ beat Monett last year. I remember before the championship game everybody was saying Maryville was going to slaughter Monett. Fourplay was on here talking about how much better class 3 football up north was compared to SWMo. Well then Monett beats Maryville and then all of a sudden Class 3 is weak. Whatever...

Lamar right now would win class 3 not because class 3 is down, but because they are just that good at this moment. It was not just a few years ago Maryville was winning class 2 titles and moved up and is still winning. The same argument could be made in a lot of classifications, You take out Webb and CJ and class 4 looks weak in this area, and those two schools are crushing class 5 schools so what does that say about Class 5 football...Come on.

ok,so i have a question. Has this asst coach been at mac with the past 3 HC's? was he not coaching football? Is it a deal that this is his first year coaching football after doing just weights the last couple years? and that made the kids come out?

because if he has been coaching the past couple of years then this paragraph , makes no sense. The numbers we around 25 (if that) last year. But like i said, if this is his first year actually coaching football then i will give this paragraph a little more credit. just trying to get some answers.
Pretty sure he started coaching football as soon as he was hired.

Rome wasn't built in a day. And I don't think Sean's the only one involved. In fact, I don't know much about their staff at all. What I do know is Sean works his tail off in the weight room with the kids. And their results have grown tremendously in the weight room. And this is obviously helping them on the football field.

No slight intended to the current head coach. Seems like I touched a nerve with you there.

If Billy Bob was around (Rest in Peace brother) he and The Mox would give this guy a ten! The Mox loves a Third-Person-Talker!!!

Definitely couldn't be the new head coach that just came from Monett and was on staff during both their semi final runs and their state championships last year! Totally has nothing to do with that guy!

You didn't even give the new head coach credit you said it was the assistant whoses been getting kids in the weight room!
From 2013-2016 they went 3-37
They are 4-3 this year! In his first year they've won more games then they did the previous 4 companied.
I admitted I didn't know anything about the HC's. What I do know is the work Sean has put in. I know how they performed in weight meets last year and the year before.

Is it some sign of disrespect to you (you seem very passionate about this) that I mentioned an assistant coach and his efforts? I'm sure their first-year HC is doing great things. Make no mistake, to turn something around like this it certainly takes more than one person. And it certainly takes more than a few months.

Again, no disrespect. Was just speaking on what I knew about. I admire your passion, it's just misplaced on me here.

I think you both are forgetting and Bosko will tell you... If you want to turn around a program look no further than the booster club president.
You are darn right about that!!! Just look at the Coach Nickerson era. I got elected booster club president when Nickerson took over. Before me, no one was driving the athletes to school, roaming the halls making sure they got to class, organizing pep rallies, or heck, sometimes buy the athletes beer! Then, after Nickerson couldnt take the program to the next level, I got everyone rallied up and ran him outta town!!
