Lutheran North 31 Lathrop 10 - Half

All Private schools in Missouri have feeder Junior Football league programs who “feed” them players. A lot of public schools have feeder teams as well but they are restricted by school district. Its life
Ya they use everyone elses feeder.

Just out of curiosity how many, if any, of these LN kids started high school at another school? Its crazy to me that a little town like Lathrop who has built up a program with local kids and had a once in a lifetime class has to compete with a team like LN.

And I’m not taking anything at all away from Lutheran North, they’re a class 2 school just like Lathrop and they’re well coached and a great football team.

I think at the Class 4-6 level the disparity with private vs public isn’t as large but Lathrop being expected to compete with LN is ridiculous to me.

You’re not wrong, but it’s not every private, there are plenty of small privates that can’t compete with Lathrop, I mean class 4 and 5 teams got beat by LN this year.

Majority of the kids obviously started at Lutheran North but they do have about 3/4 high level transfers who either Sat out a Year or was granted eligibility by MSHSAA.
LN wont be in Class 2 much longer. Sucks for Lathrop had to see Blair Oaks last year and now Lutheran North this year.

Thanks for the info boys. Lathrop was easily the best C2 team left other than LN. Clark County or Ava really won’t stand a chance based on my observations.

It didn’t seem to be an obstacle for Lamar, Maryville or Blair Oaks over the last decade.

it’s how the chips fall. Not everyone can win. Doesn’t bother several others.

Will they put you and valle both in class 4?

Lutheran North is Class 1 w/out the multiplier. They’ll be Class 3 at most (unfortunately).

Trinity is Class 2 and might get bumped to Class 4.

Ritter is Class 2 and will get a boost to Class 3.

Valle will move to Class 3.

For being a collection of elite physically gifted all stars, I felt that aside from undiciplined penalties LN played good team/unselfish ball.

The LN skill positions are more physically gifted than the skill players at northwest Missouri State. Seeing it up close was actually hilarious. Lathrop being in the game late 3rd/early 4th was impressive. I was thinking the bump-up routine would equalize. Nope. Put like 16 of them in a bracket and let them duke it out. I'd go watch that final.

What about the poor teams that had to play Lathrop and their once in a lifetime class of kids? Some of those teams didn’t have good players and it wasn’t their fault. Lathrop was still willing to smoke them by 50. That’s ridiculous to me.

As long as Chris Holt remains the HC Lathrop will just reload.................

Oh man you really got me on this one.

He chased the money once at Oak Park. Will he do it again?

For his style to work he needs hard working disciplined kids. Just dont think you see that as much in the urban/suburban schools.

Consider this:1. The coach, nor the kids, can't control all the opponents on the schedule. You mentioned that it wasn't those kids fault that they perhaps weren't good players. Is it our kids fault that they were better? 2. Those seniors have been playing since 2nd grade, should they exit the game in the 1st quarter of most of their senior year because they are "too good" ? Many of the games the seniors played little to none in the 2nd half. Think of all the time they have dedicated in terms of blood sweat and tears. 3. Should they "play easy" when they are out there? 4. They have to play to improve and to be in football shape so they are ready for a potential playoff run. Should our kids sacrifice their chance to be at their best at the end of the year? 5. What about the staff, should they never practice certain plays and should they feel bad about where they coach? Not trying to hammer on this, but feel these questions have merit

I guess you missed my sarcasm.

hence me saying “of course we’ll never know”

Lol. That clown cracks me up. I guess when your team didn’t advance deep into the playoffs and you’re forced to eat shit and watch a team you envy make it to The Championship Game, you stretch to find SOME way to choke back the tears.

Ritter would’ve chewed thru every school on their side of the bracket, JUST like Lutheran North did. The only team that came close to stopping LN was Lift for Life, and I’m confident they’d have worn out Scott City and Lathrop, too.

Here’s what we DO know. Lutheran North is playing for the Championship. Anyone not from Ava just wasn’t good enough this year.

I wonder if Lathrop has more Lutherans on their team than Lutheran North does?

Lathrop DEFINITELY has more kids at Basketball and Wrestling practice tomorrow than Lutheran North does. That must’ve been a loooong, sad bus ride home on Saturday, huh?

Lathrop beat us twice, by a lot. They didn't run the score up either time, they were just better.

The 'once in a lifetime class' graduated last year. This group wasn't expected to do nearly what they did. They had to totally reload do to graduation, and they did.

Lathrop has a very good head coach, a very good staff and hard working kids. I agree with top, that as long as that combination stays in place, Lathrop will be a tough out year in and year out.
