What teams stood out in the first week, good or bad

Mine was LSW's trashing of Blue Spring South. Didn't see the game but it sounded like speed killed BSS. Still not sure what this says about each team but this week for will tell.

LSW vs BS

BSS vs Rockhurst

I think #2#3#4#5 in class 4 all lost??

Might see some fresh meat climb into the polls

There were MANY surprises Week 1: Agree totally about LSW cannot wait to see how they stack up vs. everybody's #1 Blue Springs. Here are a few others by class:

6: Surprised how Ray-Pec struggled past Belton. Perhaps the Pirates are better than I thought coming into 2017? Extremely surprised to see Rock lose at Rock Bridge.

5: Staley appears as advertised or perhaps even better. Other side of the state watch FZ North. On the downside Chrisman struggling past Oak Park not a good sign given what they face in an overall up class in the Metro.

4: As I said preseason watch Lafayette. That they won no surprise HOW they did was. Thought NKC would give them a game. Most of the other expected contenders won vs. lesser competition. On the downside my worry about Kearney's QB situation was validated. Plenty of time to solve it but the schedule has very "layups" this year.

3: Another team I had on radar coming into 2017 is Oak Grove. Solid win and another biggie coming this Friday. The other top contenders did not disappoint at all.

2: I did not see anything telling me there is a NWMO team capable of denting Lamar's hold on the class. Most surprising result had to be Summit Christian losing to Christ Prep followed closely by St. Paul Lutheran losing at Tipton.

1: Sometimes even in losing a team stands out and that, for me, was Maysville. Penney will be an absolute force in that class and is easily best in NWMO but the Wolverines could have a good season and perhaps win the GRC.

I am sure there is a lot more those are just off the top of my head.............

Ladue and Kearney's losses were probably more about who they played but time will tell..............definitely keep Hannibal on radar this year. Another team rising after the stud RB graduates.

#1. Louisiana hanging toe to toe with Clopton/Elsberry. Should vacate the CCC basement.
#2. Monroe City picking up where they left off. Early CCC favorite.
#3. Even though they lost to Monroe, Clark County appears to finally be back, and just in time to open their new field.
#4. Not shocked that they won, but how easy it appears South Shelby got by Brookfield.

Maysville vs. Hamilton was not as close as the final score. Latroy Harper is the real deal at receiver though. 220+ yards receiving and a punt return. Maysville scored a late TD vs. the JV of Hamilton in what was otherwise a 41-14 game. 2 long pass plays, Hamilton is still the real deal in the front 7 and proved that by shutting down Maysville's rushing game.
I do think the GRC is pretty wide open. Princeton looks to be a contender in the GRC that should not be overlooked.

Even though they lost big still am thinking Maysville vs. Princeton will be for this year's title.
