Little Bit of Truth

Heard of the term irony? Gun wack jobs criticize the lack of knowledge of those hoping to protect our citizens after specifically blocking the study of gun deaths/violence by the CDC because the NRA told them to. And don’t try to tell me they haven’t blocked it. It has been blocked for years.

According to Takeaway Washington Correspondent Todd Zwillich, the CDC ban on studying gun violence goes back to a government spending bill from 1997 that contains these 26 words: “None of the funds made available for injury prevention and control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention may be used to advocate or promote gun control.”

“That happened back then because the [National Rifle Association] leaned on lawmakers, saying CDC researchers were advocating for gun control when their results suggested, for instance, that having a gun in the home was more dangerous than not having one,” says Zwillich. “And it’s remained so ever since.”

Flash forward almost 20 years, and the congressman that penned those original 26 words says that the decision to include such language was a mistake.

“I regret the fact that we didn't start the research,” says Jay Dickie, who served five terms as a Republican congressman from Arkansas. “The problem was that the research that we were looking at was designed with the agenda of gun control — not with the agenda of gun violence. What I regret is we didn't go forward and say, ‘We do need research, but we need research with integrity.’”

Lol even in the face of facts you want to cry because things weren't done the way you think they should be done. I love how you refuted NONE of the facts she presented and just dove into your own talking points.

The reality is the defensive use of guns is an important aspect of having them.

Most offensive or criminal use of guns are perpetrated by handguns (so why the focus on "assault rifles", because the uninformed think they "look scary").

Anyone looking to ban guns (or accessories that make them easier to use) must really hate women. I know it's anecdotal, but my wife can't hit water from a boat with our Glock G23, but is a fairly decent shot with our AR15 and our shotgun. If it ever came down to it I feel better knowing there's a tool she has at her disposal to defend herself if for some reason our home was broken into.

And before you say "well that won't happen" in the last six months my car has been broken into twice and our neighborhood isn't the greatest. I'd rather be prepared and capable of handling a break-in than just sit back and hope the cops arrive in time.

Then let’s study it so we know facts and not what she or you think are the facts.

If the stats she gave are even half true there are up to a million defensive uses of a gun to protect or save a life.

That alone is worth it.

Exactly what in the world do you need to study???

FBI yearly statistics easily show assault rifles are not a major weapon used in our country.

Criminals almost always use handguns committing crimes

I guess they could study how these pistols are jumping up and killing people without someone pulling the trigger

What are you so afraid of? You are just like Trumpy. If everything is as you say, stop obstructing the fact finding.

1. Are you implying the FBI statistics are wrong?

2. Do people use guns to protect themselves, their homes and property?
