Is BRIGHT and talented. Have seen their JV (1 loss, 8-6 Staley) and Frosh (undefeated) play and both are stacked. A LOT can change and 9th & JV success does not always equal success at the Varsity level but it has to have Jones and crew excited. They have some beasts on JV defense and a really good looking Frosh running back. Could be fun to watch for the next few years.

8th grade's best record the last 8 years was 3-3. They were 6-0 this year, with the closest game a 14 point win. Stacked. Another Van Dyne QB.

The 8th grade Van Dyne is very good. They are about to leave the old Liberty HS in the dust.

Seems like Liberty HS is more concerned about hype videos, social media, and a bunch of Rah-Rah stuff while Jones is quietly changing the culture at LN and building a tough hard-nosed program.

who is the Freshman RB at LN? There were some really good ones in the North Suburban league last year.

But will the anxious fanbase be patient enough?

Old Liberty Bluejays are in trouble from what it appears.. LN 8th grade beat them 34-0 (without trying much in the second half) and last year, same thing. Liberty has a football vacuum for some reason. Parents of talented football players will be looking for housing on the North side of the district map for the coming years. This year might have been the high water mark of the Liberty Bluejays.

Just saw the LN Freshman score was LN 37 Staley 8.

Anxious fan base? I am lost - been in the district for several years and LN football has not had any real success to be impatient about. One trip to the C4 final four and they were absolutely hosed on a holding call that would have put them ahead of Helias late in the 4th quarter-other than that not much to speak about. 2 back to back final 4 trips in basketball years ago - again they were absolutely robbed on a walking call late in the 4th with the lead that if called correctly they would have beaten Republic and had a chance for a state title A few baseball good years but no real state title runs - women sports have lagged since opening. if they are impatient they are delusional
But that aside - yes the future does look very good for football and a few other sports - they are drawing some good young talent - the Van Dyne pipeline is for real.

Jones was a huge hire (get) for LN. Many times when a school hires like that expectations go through the roof and quickly. The first two years have not produced those results to date (still think they could be a first round district playoff upsetter, though). As for that Van Dyne pipeline I'd love to see them come home...........:)

Their current senior class went undefeated as freshmen. Means very little.

The current senior class was playing Class 4 and Class 5 Schools...NOW they the 8th and 9th grade play Class 5 and Class 6 schools. Apples and oranges, bro...

I'd bet the current seniors didn't play Lee's Summit West as Freshman?

They had a considerable change this year in their schedule, moving to Class 6. Adding Blue Springs, Lee's Summit and Lee's Summit North doesn't help the bottom line.

Sorry... I will explain myself better so you can understand. Those seniors on that semi-final team, when they were freshman did not win a game (0-8). This whole conversation is about predicting W/L... Hard to do.

Their Freshman B won two games. Also, the boundary lines changed within two years...further making your point completely moot. Different personnel were available by the fourth year.

Yes... the B team did win 2 games. Great memory Joey!! Also, more B team starters as senior than A team starters. Again, hard to predict W/L. Lots can change.

So when you have a school that has an 8th grade that is 6-0, and destroying everyone.. a 9th grade team that is undefeated as well. Oh, and a JV team that loses one game by two points, that means nothing? Liberty North's best record in 8th grade the past 8 years has been 3-3. There is no way you can convince me this means nothing. This means a talent pool and a culture is starting to move the right direction.

Ask some of the old coaches that were around when the 94 and 96 Excelsior Springs team was in 6th to 8th grade... they knew they were bad ass at that age...And two state titles proved it.

True, with the exception they are MUCH better coached now

My post was not to predict W/L, I was simply stating that they have a lot of young talent, they have a very good head coach now, and things seem to be pointing up for the Eagles as far as football. Winning is hard, their coach knows how to do it.

I completely disagree with the notion that 8th, 9th, and JV scores are not predictive...I was part of a bad ass championship team in 8th grade..and guess what? We were badasses our 12th grade year as well. Why? Collective genetics. We had several once several generations athletes that just happened to go to school at the same time.
