Anyone know what is going on with the situation in Bolivar? Something to do with Coach Roweton (sp?)?

I am no Coach but, Its probably not a good idea to call out a high school kid from an opposing team. Does this need to be addressed? Yes. Should he be removed? NO. Football is an emotional game, sometimes emotions get the better of people. He just needs to be a little smarter next time.

lol Not the first time a opposing player and Coach have had words.

This was awesome though....

According to observations from the game, the Liberators tackled a player deep in Branson territory to stop the Branson drive. After the play ended, a Branson player came across the field and hit a standing Liberator in the back.

The officials said they did not see it, so no personal foul penalty was assessed. Coach Roweton called out the player on the late hit and told him the next Liberator touchdown would be on him. The Liberators’ quarterback on the next offensive play threw a 55-yard touchdown pass.

He then said, "Boom", dropped the mic and walked off.

I don't know, but if my coach stood up for me or my teammate and then dropped another touchdown on them, I'd think that the entire team would rally around him. This a not a big deal. Time to move on.

Coach Roweton isn't going anywhere.

I don't have a problem with the coach throwing over the kid that made the late hit. In my opinion He should not say anything to an opposing players! You can stand up for your team and not stoop to that level. That is not setting a good example for the young men he coaches, and I am sure if that continues he will find himself in more hot water.

I think we are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Any of us who have been around high school football have see a coach make a comment to a player after a cheap shot. No coach wants to see their players get hurt. The bigger issue was the reaction to the touchdown by a couple of our local administrators. It was an unneeded distraction during our toughest game of the year. Anyone who would use this opportunity to try and besmirch the character of a great coach, great leader and good man probably doesn't know much about football or the coach involved. The drama is over. That's a good thing.

The old saying that winning fixes everything usually holds true. In this case it may not. Bolivar does not have the toughest schedule remaining until play-offs, and that have a pretty good team. That being said, every touchdown scored in the second half with a decent lead will be talked about in the stands, parents will say stuff about the administrators, kids and coaches will have that in the back of their head. Bolivar has a fine coach, in this situation people pick sides and that scar lasts long after the drama dies out.

I know a lot of coaches would have probably just let it go but I have the same opinion. If that is all that was said and done it isn't that big a deal. I didn't see the play but if one of my players go hit with a cheap shot in front of me I would certainly say something.

Can someone please tell me who it was that got mad about this and why? (...was this Bolivar fans/faculty that got mad at Roweton as well; and was it over the comments he made to a player or the extra TD or both?)

Just speculating, but maybe Bolivar administration has heard all the talk of teams leaving the Small COC and they know that that would be bad for Bolivar's win/loss record (so they are finally trying to do something about Roweyon running up the score).

Mountain out of a Mole hill LOL Sort of like the Head coach did when he called out the player and dropped a 55 yard bomb to make a point? Just saying you want others to let it go but you don't ask the same of the man that leads your young men? I like that a coach will stand up for his players nothing wrong about that. But I love a coach that will teach his players a life lesson out of these sorts of situations. The only lesson that the coach taught here was two wrongs make it right. Keep up the good work.

Two administrators. That's it. Fan support ended the issue. I think the view of small uncompetitive schools leaving and schools like Monett and Cassville coming in is viewed positively by everybody here in Liberator Land. We can't move up until we hit 1000 students so more competitive schools in the small COC is a good thing.

In terms of running the score up... It's been several years... Let it go :)

I make it a point not to attack kids, coaches or schools on here. But everybody is allowed an opinion. If it is true that Monett is coming to the Small COC with Cassville then you will get to see first hand what a great coach Roweton is.

If someone told you (and other Bolivar fans, because I've heard it before) that you have to have an enrollment of 1,000 or more to be in the Large COC then you were misinformed; according to MSHSAA, Carl Junction has an enrollment of less than 1,000 and they will be in the Karge COC next year.

Just an observation (several agree and several disagree; no need to say any more than that...)

...though I don't know what you mean by it having been several years (it's an almost every year thing for the rest of the Small COC)

whoa there Liberator dad you go from 0-100 in nothing flat, I just asked a question notice the question mark? again, you ask others to drop it so does that apply in all situations, or just those that bother you and the things you support? Again its tuff when things happen to your team and coaches, I have not seen the film don't know anything about the hit or how dirty it was. I don't know if there was any provocation from the Bolivar kid again not throwing accusations just stating what we don't know? again just merely an observation from years of watching football. And I stand by my statement I love a coach who can use such situations as teaching tools for young men and rise above the crap and retaliation. With some of the things we hear in the news that is wrong with football we need coaches that can rise above the petty stuff and be not only good leaders and winners on the field, but great role models for our kids everyday and great stewards of the game.

Yes I love how you say you are all high and mighty and above things, but then you throw out the veiled threat

Why all the hate on Bolivar?

Solid program and both Roweton coaches are stand up men. Things happen in the heat of battle and I'm sure it won't happen again.

Bolivar up 60-0 on Hollister in the 2nd...
Just an observation (several agree and several disagree...)
I take it back, I think most people agree that Bolivar runs up the score; the disagreement is whether or not it's wrong of them to do so (and I'm starting to come around in my old age...)

Bullit. You and I don't interact on here much but, you said that the only thing coach taught him was that two wrongs make a right you were not asking a question. Anybody on here can tell you I don't pick fights. I don't put down kids coaches or fans. I've met some of the guys on here in person. I was at the game. I've seen many coaches speak to players on the field as have others on here. I am defensive of our coach because he is a good man. My comment about you seeing what a good coach he is was not meant to be a threat. I'm simply pointing out that when you see him coach in person you will see that he is not arrogant. He doesn't make a habit of losing his temper etc. I hope Monett does come in because it was a great rivalry game when I played for Bolivar.

Mit. I don't understand why you attack our coaches character by saying he runs the score up. The opening kickoff was fumbled by Hollister on the ten and Bolivar recovered and ran it it. Next punt Hollister kicked the ball in to the back of his own player and we got the ball on the ten. Play after play like that. The JV played the entire second half. We ran the play clock down to one second on every play. My offer still stands to buy you that hot dog at the Bolivar and Rogersville game.

I recall watching an ash grove game years ago when the ash grove defensive ends would cut the opposing teams fullback on kickout blocks. Thats dirty football.

No we don't because really I don't have alot of reason to interact. I don't know enough about Bolivar or your coach to comment about them. But yeah I said that and I stand by it. I just don't agree with how that situation was handled, if it went down how the article says it did. That is how you might expect a youth coach to act not a seasoned coach. But I know for a fact that if any of our youth coaches called out an opposing player they would not be on the sideline the next game if ever. In our program we just don't believe that is the right way to act. We preach to our players & coaches to worry about the controllables which is what we can control and that is our players actions and our own actions during the game. So yes each to there own I cannot and should not worry about your coach and how he acts, that's your program and your kids and if you feel he does a great job then that is all that matters. I probable should not have commented on it, but in the end I just did not agree with it.

there is not a 1000 student limit.

The only thing that has a 1000 requirement for being in the Big COC,,,,,,,,,,,,,,That is the total weight limit of the coaching staff. And main they ALL make that. And so far that is the only major point. Someone needed to lighten up this post LOL

If they run the score up so what, this is a varsity game, the JV has their games on Monday's. You want your varsity getting as much time as they can so they're prepared by the time playoffs come.
