Let's Talk About Class 1

District 1 has been the respresentive for their side of the bracket all but 5 years since 2000
Oh, I see. Didn't get that you were just talking about that side of the bracket. You said "Class 1 has hinged on District 1." You meant that District 1's side of the bracket has hinged on District 1.

Since he said this century, I'll assume that he means since 2010. There were 12 "other" years of the past 18 that a District 1 team did NOT win the Class 1 title.
He clarified his response. They have played in several of the championships, while not always winning it.

He didn't say anything about championships. He said, represented their side of the bracket.

The thing with South Harrison is that they’re undefeated, yes, but they’re the king of the GRC, 10-12years ago if you were the top team in the GRC it actually meant something. It was a conference that had typically 3-4 teams in the top 10 in Class 1 every year, now though, the GRC is just a shell of its former self. I believe SH deserves a top 10 ranking, but their schedule doesn’t do them any favors that’s for sure.
More like 20-30 years ago.

In the fall of 2007 Princeton, South Harrison, Maysville, and Gallatin were all in the top 10 of Class 1 in the final poll of the year.
That was under the old district format and Princeton, Gallatin, and SH were all in the same district with 4-5 losses between all 3 teams at seasons end.
Maysville played Princeton in the sectionals and lost by 2 that year. I was there.

And there were many other years between 2000-2010 that it was like that.

Valle over Hayti, interesting. Crazy if we have a 3-5 team win a district (6). Wish we could see a few of these good teams spread to the bad districts. Hard to project, but still.

I've seen Sweet Springs play, have not seen Marceline, and am familiar with some of Slater's schedule, district 5 could be more contested than some think. Depends on how good Marceline really is, I suppose.
Valle can scheme for 1 guy, but will be a good game. Give Valle the edge by a point. Marceline is best in that district and district 6.

Uhhhhhh what? Lincoln won 49 to 0 against an always well coached Wellington team. and I really don't feel like having to post all the stats that show why their RB is not even close to their best player. I believe it was you that I had to show last time.
Please do go ahead and pull up #3 stats from that game. Had a majority of their production. On the defensive side as well.

I think Thayer is very impressive. They hung tight with a top 5 C2 in Ava on the road and beat Hayti including leading at the half even before their good back went down. But I'll also admit I grew up in the SCA and am a homer for anyone out of the SCA other than maybe Grove, Salem, or Willow haha!

I live in KC now and went and watched Mid-Buc play against Lathrop, which was not a great matchup as Lathrop absolutely wiped the floor with them. But I loved watching Mid-Bucs QB Javan Noyes play, the kid looks like he's about 5'4 215 but can absolutely sling it. Very fun player to watch.

On another side note from what I've seen I think Lathrop and Ava are very similar in terms of skill, so after watching two top C1 teams take on two top C2 teams (Thayer vs Ava and Mid-Buc vs Lathrop) I came away even more impressed by Thayer compared to their C1 competition.

Is South Harrison good enough to make it out of the district and compete with Mid-Buch? After my original post, I realized I'd totally skipped over Valle and after quickly looking at their record, schedule, district seed, I agree, If they have a good outing against St. Pius, and retain homefield throughout the district, maybe they could give Hayti some trouble. (on paper, of course.) (I haven't seen either team play this year.)
Make it out of district? Yes. I don't think they will beat Mid-Buch.

I strongly agree with you on this one Hoops. South Harrison is the product of an extremely weak schedule. I’m not saying that Mid Buchs schedule is a gauntlet but definitely more difficult than SH.
It’s crazy. Most years you’re talking about Mid Buch in terms of basketball and East Buch in terms of football.

WN HC got released like 3 weeks ago.

I thought the same thing, but I just don't see Skyline being a huge threat. Have some talent and are always well-coached. I just don't see them pulling it out. I think Lockwood, Skyline, and Cole Camp are similar teams, but Lincoln is just better.
Cole Camp 35 Butler 22

you saying giving up 22 on a dry night to Butler is good or bad... or are you saying only scoring 35 on a dry track is a good thing.
Also Butler led 22-20 at one point.

From what I've heard CC had some thing break against them, receiver got concussed, starting olinemen and d linemen got tossed. Also heard that against Buffalo, Cole Camp led at one point. Again, based off of what I've heard (all word of mouth/coffee shop stuff) you can get one of two different teams with Cole camp, one that executes and can play ball, and one that continuously shoots itself in the foot.

Interesting, I guess time will tell, who's got the toughest matchup of class one schools that we care about this week? Mid-Buch?
