Was looking through some threads and saw a lot about Thayer, Lincoln, Mid-Buch, Hayti, etc. Was wondering if anyone knows anything about the other schools with convincing records, yet exceedingly less hype. i.e Marceline, South Harrison, etc. District 8 has four schools with good records and a plethora of close scores, (3-5), 5th seed, Milan has close scores with Gallatin, South Harrison, and Princeton. Who comes out to face Mid-Buch? Do Slater or Sweet Springs have any shot at beating Marceline? Is district 6 all bad, or does Brentwood's almost all class 2 and class 3 schedule mean anything? Despite the scores does anyone think Adrian or Windsor can compete with Lincoln in the d3/d4 match-up? Anybody a REAL threat to Thayer/Hayti in d1/d2? Enlighten me, football posters.

Mid Buch hosts Lawson this Friday night. If they find a way to win that one it would cement my opinion the Dragons are going all the way............

I don't think you can sleep on Valle to knock off Hayti/Thayer. Their schedule hasn't been that great but this weeks test against St. Pius (7-1) will really show if they can play with Hayti/Thayer.

South Harrison is a sleeper in Class 1 I think. They can make some noise and make a decent push at a title appearance, IMO. Marceline comes out of D5 easily. And yes, D6 is very, very bad. But Brentwood isn't that great of a team either, they have a bad loss against Orchard Farm (2-6) and haven't really blown out any bad team they've played yet. This weeks game will show a lot more as they go to play at Class 3 Ste. Genevieve who Valle handled rather easily. But who knows. D6 is up for grabs I think.

Lincoln beat Adrian earlier in the year by 4 plus scores. Adrian is usually well-coached, but are also a product of being the big fish in a small pond. 20 years ago Adrian being the top of the WEMO was a big deal, maybe not so much at this point in time. Windsor is a similar product as well. Lincoln is probably the best team in their area

Is South Harrison good enough to make it out of the district and compete with Mid-Buch? After my original post, I realized I'd totally skipped over Valle and after quickly looking at their record, schedule, district seed, I agree, If they have a good outing against St. Pius, and retain homefield throughout the district, maybe they could give Hayti some trouble. (on paper, of course.) (I haven't seen either team play this year.)

South Harrison will make it out of their district. Mid-Buch defense is very good. It'll be an interesting matchup but think it could be a lot closer than some may think.

I could also be way wrong too. Ha

I know that Thayer is probably going to win their district, but Pierce City is still interesting. They have only given up 20 points or so all year. Gave up two scores week 1 and a TD late to #8 ranked Miller. Past history says Thayer will win their District easily, but still interesting.

South Harrison has been winning but not dominating. A rematch with Gallatin in particular could be a very close one..........

Valle Catholic will not have any problems with St. Pius this week. St. Pius plays no one. Have you looked at ST. Pius schedule?? Valle will give Hayti a run for their money in districts.

I hate that I have to repost this but, District 1> District 2. Historical Facts

"buT thAYeR bEaT hAYTi WEeK 1!"

That's neat, but it was week 1 and Hayti's freak RB/DLine got injured and didn't play 2nd half.

When is the last time District 2 beat District 1?

Skyline has gotten beat by three undefeated teams and play up a class in many games. Don’t assume Lincoln automatically wins their district...

I thought the same thing, but I just don't see Skyline being a huge threat. Have some talent and are always well-coached. I just don't see them pulling it out. I think Lockwood, Skyline, and Cole Camp are similar teams, but Lincoln is just better.

The thing with South Harrison is that they’re undefeated, yes, but they’re the king of the GRC, 10-12years ago if you were the top team in the GRC it actually meant something. It was a conference that had typically 3-4 teams in the top 10 in Class 1 every year, now though, the GRC is just a shell of its former self. I believe SH deserves a top 10 ranking, but their schedule doesn’t do them any favors that’s for sure.

Lincoln is just not that good. IMO Running-back/Middle-backer is the whole team and it showed last week. Stop him you win the game. Mid buch looks unstoppable right now. I predict a marceline mid buch state championship with mid buch winning easily

Thayer also struggled against willow springs last week a not a very good class 2 team. I think they just got lucky with haytis running-back going out early in that game. Thayer loses in quarterfinal if they even make it that far.

Uhhhhhh what? Lincoln won 49 to 0 against an always well coached Wellington team. and I really don't feel like having to post all the stats that show why their RB is not even close to their best player. I believe it was you that I had to show last time.

I'm starting to think you're a Lincoln homer and trying to get people to focus on something that isnt an important part of the team just to gain a competitive advantage lol

This looks good. Not sold on SS winning that district. Totally sold it doesn't matter.
Me neither and would really look for maybe South Callaway to come out of it. That district is wayyyyy down and anyone can win that. Maybe Harrisburg claims their first district football championship?

That’s what happens when you play Class 2 and Class 3 schools all year every year.

Tell me more about Lincoln’s strength of schedule?

The top half of the bracket is LOADED. Just like last year, Lincoln should reach the finals easily. There are half a dozen possible opponents for them. I'll stick with Thayer.

If you are talking about Lincoln's best player being there RB, it is their QB. He is very good and he has two very good WRs. They beat North Callaway 40-8 and in a three week period they outscored Adrian, Windsor and Sweet Springs 125 to 26 and those three teams are a combined 18-6. They also led Wellington 42-0 at half. They are a very good team, but that does not mean that walk to state title.

I agree...Lincoln is very, very good. Their QB and WR's are very talented....they have a STUD linemen, great kicker...and a solid defense. They could win it all this year. Not saying they will for sure...but they have a legitimate shot.

They do have a much easier road than the top half of the bracket for sure! Man the top half is a gauntlet to run through. Hopefully whoever makes it to the final game is healthy.

Lockwood is probably better. Depending on how the seeding works out, Skyline might not even get the opportunity to play Lincoln, IMO.

Valle over Hayti, interesting. Crazy if we have a 3-5 team win a district (6). Wish we could see a few of these good teams spread to the bad districts. Hard to project, but still.

I've seen Sweet Springs play, have not seen Marceline, and am familiar with some of Slater's schedule, district 5 could be more contested than some think. Depends on how good Marceline really is, I suppose.

More like 20-30 years ago.

@ChaoticFanatic From what I've heard and seen, Lincoln has played a tougher schedule than some think. Much tougher than in years past. If they returned as many players as I've heard, they should be for real regardless of strength of schedule.

I was thinking the same thing when it comes to the Marceline and sweet springs district.

My class 1 observations from what I’ve looked into, which is only a handful of teams...

Hayti has 1 player, Adrian Stevenson. When he’s not running the ball they look like a very average team. Qb can’t throw.

Valle has been working with a backup Freshmen QB and continuing to win. So their system is alive and well.

Lincoln’s QB looks impressive but you can tell the teams that they’re playing have no idea how to defend what they’re doing. They look like a lesser version of Valle scheme wise.

Class 1 has hinged on District 1 for this entire century give or take a couple years..

If Valle beats Hayti, they’ll take state and ride off into the class 3 sunset for the next decade.

If Hayti advances out of District 1, Thayer/Lincoln has a chance to beat them if they play hard nosed and tackle well

I bet he is referencing Valle or Hayti having a significant hold on Class 1 for the past 10 or so. Its not right since 2000, but I bet that is what he is meaning. Besides Penney around 2010, Marionville in 03, and others, SEMO has been the most consistent around the championship in Class 1.
Since he said this century, I'll assume that he means since 2010. There were 12 "other" years of the past 18 that a District 1 team did NOT win the Class 1 title.
