This cardinal offense isn't good. But the good fortune this team has had at times this year is amazing.

Danks has a ERA of 5. A horrible whip of 1.5. We couldn't even score on him. Then in the 8th we get a HBP on the foot with two strikes, a catchers interference, and then yadi hits a 3 run triple on a pitch that was way outside and he was just trying to hang in there....right down the line. Crazy.

They're not good? I'd agree they're not over the top. But not good?

Good enough to be the best team in baseball and according to some they are doing this with a popgun offense and the worst MGR ever!!!

I'd say they've had more bad luck than good. OT death. Waino going out. Adams going out. Carpenters complete lack of production since the first month. Hollidays injury. Garcia's injury after his start.

All in all they've managed

Probably average at best. They rank in the middle or near the bottom of almost every team offensive category. Except BA and OBP, where they're around 4th in the NL. Couple that with some timely hits (they're around middle of the pack) for RISP average, and you've got an offense that's scoring just enough runs to win games given the UNREAL pitching the Birds have had.

I really think the offense just is what it is at this point. It's not going to get a ton better, especially if Holiday doesn't get healthy (lets face it, that quad is still a big issue) and Marp doesn't pick it up. I really don't think losing Adams hampered the offense much at all. He's not going to give much more than Reynolds. And I don't think Reynolds was going to be anything special off the bench. Just lost a tad of flexibility. But all in all, a healthy Adams doesn't change the scope of the way this team scores.

If the pitching holds up, this team will make some noise. If not, I can't imagine it hanging around in the playoffs for very long.

They have won 60 games quicker than any team the past four years. The pitching is just ridiculous.

This is just a different era of baseball. This team will go six innings without scoring squat and then win with 2 or 3 runs late. Time after time. If I was a Reds fan I would have booed at the all star game also. :)

Why would they boo, the manager didn't even use two of or best pitchers and two others selected couldn't play? Turns out it was a good thing they didn't but how in the hell do you NOT use either of those two guys from the team with the best record in baseball all year BECAUSE of their pitching? Besides all that the guys that were selected deserved to be there.
