innng one—Hudson walks in 2 runs and gives up a sac fly

With an opportunity to bust the game wide open Goldie hits into a DP. The Cubs immediately hit a 2 run homer to tie the game.

Cardinals rally is cut short as Carp makes a bonehead baserunnng play.

A bogus-ass-hasn’t been called all year balk is called on what would have been a third strike leading to another pinch 2-run homer on the next pitch. Cubs lead by one. Game over, right?

Unbelievable.

Well they have pretty much eliminated the Cubs so they better hope they get some help from whomever the Brewers play the rest of the way and hope for a 4 game lead lest the Cubs show up in STL with a chance to play spoiler in the last 3 games.

That is the damndest box score I have ever read. Over 40 players in the game, 16 pitchers! Radio said longest 9 inning game in wrigley field history.

Omg I just looked at it. That was like 3 games in one. And the last 6 scores were all by the long ball. And by the way, John Rooney’s radio call of the ninth inning dingers was classic.

Amazing how the game has changed. From the Bob Gibson, Juan Marichal, Ferguson Jenkins throwing all them complete games to the bullpen strategy of nowadays.
