Congrats to Lathrop. Definitely were the better team. Now they need to get ready for a tough state championship.

Congrats to Lathrop, they was the better team. Cards called it. I thought all along Lamar was a one loss team so I was wrong as normal. I am just bummed that the Big 8 won’t be repping the 417 at state this year.
The explanation I heard was if it bounces off of a player and out of bounds it is the same as kicking it out of bounds
Lamar will be judged, somewhat unfairly based on what they have been able to do the last 7 years. Amazing run. If might be stretching it a little to say that that this Lamar team hugely overachieved but it was not as talented and most of the recent teams and still managed to make it to the semis. That is the mark of a strong program.
The official told the Lathrop coaches that the player was out of bounds when the ball bounced off of him.
I was behind the endzone and the Lathrop player definitely touched the ball in bounds. It was a bad call.
Very good football game. I'm happy for Coach Holt, the Lathrop staff, players and community. What a turn around in just a few short years.
Congrats to Lamar and Coach Bailey for a tremendous run. The Lamar team on the field today have nothing to be ashamed of. All runs end, but they went out giving great effort. The Lamar community should be proud of how they played.
I read somewhere the player was ruled to have never had posession of the ball ... seems odd for it to have bounced off the kid who was trying to field it, go out of bounds, and it penalizes the kicking team...??? But, I guess that's the rule.

Yes it's an odd rule. I don't like it. This year at a game-- the receiving team intentionally stood out of bounds and touched the ball that was in bounds and it was called a penalty on kicking team. It was a smart move of understanding the rules. I wish that rule would be changed.
None of you listened to me when I said early in the season that Lathrop was legit and had a real possibility of beating Lamar as they did today. I don’t blame you. All I’ll say is congrats to Coach Bailey and Lamar on there amazing 7 year run. This will never happen again in any class. None of those boys have anything to be upset about. Lost to a really good football team. I’m giving Lathrop again a Chance next week. Don’t count them out vs BO. Not saying they are going to win. But don’t be shocked if it’s a game and they have a shot late to make a play and maybe win it.

It can. But it’s not likely. If private schools continue to become more dominant, the chances only one private or only one public school has what it takes for almost a decade to win state year after year is small. CBC is the only name that jumps out to me anyhow that can accomplish this. Class 6 is CBC than everyone else ATM. But they have a ways to go.
At the Class 2 level, it’s very difficult. For them to win 7 straight at the level is more impressive than anything. You are not always going to have classes come through with a ton of talent. Usually in these smaller schools you have 2 or 3 good years then you drop for a couple. Being from a small school I know how the cycle works. So what Lamar has done is amazing
