They'd be hitting a lot of solo HR right now. We are .001 from having the worst OBP in the national league.
I've never seen a slugger who only hits homeruns. In my world a slugger is a man who hits the ball with authority all over the field. I'm talking a 3-4 hitter who makes millions of dollars for pounding the ball with regularity.
We used to have Pujols, Berkman, Craig, Holliday. Now we have GrichuK, Adams, Jhonny.
Greatest STL team ever. And we have had some great ones. We don't have a star. We really need a star. The rest of the batting order would improve with a star. Everyone move down a spot and it's a better lineup.
Honestly...Who could he have gotten? I agree, it'd be nice to have a banger. But who has signed in the last two off seasons that he could've realistically gotten?
This isn't on MO. He has put a competitive roster together every year except this one. Can't bang a guy for one crappy off-season he refused to mortgage the next five with a really bad contract.
Whomever he wanted to pay. Cespedes. Turner. Encarnacion. Think about how much we offered horse sh Heyward and $60 million for a 35 year old catcher.
Josh Turner is exactly what the Birds have a lot of. He's not a bonafide slugger. You're reaching just to bitch there, and I dig you man. Encarnacion was never an option. Always stated he wanted to play in the AL and DH. And I'm with you, love to have Cespedes. But he came after the Mets as hard as they came after him. I remember reading an article about a binder his agent put together to show to the Mets. Had all the articles from the Daily about Cespedes. He was going to be in NY or LA the whole time. He had The Mang syndrome, but always came across as sincere to me.
I hate it too. But really it's two years. This year was a given. Hopefully Kelly is ready to take over full time in 2020. And hopefully the Birds have a manager sharp enough to split their time in 2019.
But but but all you have to do is write a check. Being a GM isn't nearly as hard as Mo makes it look. No reason we shouldn't have an MVP candidate at every spot. Mo is just incapable of doing his job.

Has Mozeliak really made a positive splash since he became the guy? Or just rode the coat tails of the previous GM's work as the roster ages..and the drafts made in previous years?
I still don't think Fowler was that great of a get....he just felt the pressure of bombing out the last couple of offseasons and wanted to reassure us he could get somebody
Fowler has had an OBP above .340 every year in his career he will be fine just off to a slow start plus he is a major upgrade above every other option the Cards had to play center field..... We could of wrote every check imaginable but the Dodgers would have raised the bar every time for Turner and speaking of the Dodgers ask them how being able to spend unlimited money has worked for them... How many rings have they won recently.... Encarnacion was never ever going to leave the AL I 100% agree with that and you complain about Yadi contract at 35 and Edwin is 34.... Cespedes was never leaving NY either he has even had ppl in his camp come out and say that.... So who else do we go spend money on

Texas 6-10 (won division last year)
San Fran 6-10 (playoff team last year)
Mets 8-8 (not awful but not good for a play off team from last year)
Cubs 8-7 (just got to .500 after winning world series)
Indians 8-7 (Not great after going to world series last year)
Give it til mid May to really start panicking

Nice that you don't address the issue. Turner isn't a masher. And Cespedes wasn't an option. The only one that I think might have been an option was Upton two offseasons ago. And thankfully, they passed.
