Which of the previous 7 (heck, I'll throw in this year's squad) is THE BEST Lamar team of the run? I'll allow up to 3 votes per poster, so you can vote a top 3 if you feel so inclined. Would love to hear some banter on close comparisons.
That 2012 state title game between Blair oaks and Lamar was a lot of fun for a while. The final score didn’t do it justice. It was back and fourth for 3 quartersI don’t have a clue but I know the funnest football game I ever watched was the state championship against Blair Oaks.
Wasn’t there 6 or 7 records set at that game? That 2012 state title game between Blair oaks and Lamar was a lot of fun for a while. The final score didn’t do it justice. It was back and fourth for 3 quarters

I believe the 2013 team was the best Class 2 team in Missouri of all time. They had two players rush for 2500 yards. As a team, they set several state records for rushing in a season. The team set the Missouri record for points in a season with the starters averaging about two quarters. They turboed every team except Carl Junction. 2016 was the second best Lamar team. The current team is still to be determined. They do not have the standout star players those other teams had but, because of that, opponents can't key on any one player.
You could argue all day between the 2013 and 2016 teams. I believe the 2013 team had better top end talent but, I think the 2013 team was much deeper. The 2013 team may have been the most complete small school team in Mo history. You could argue they had above average or better players at every position with a few quality starters standing on the side lines. However the best player on the 2016 team may not have been one of the top 5 players on the 2013 team. 2012 and 2017 is kind of a toss up for the next tier. I gave the edge to 2017 because had they been healthy I think they could have been honorable mention in the top tier. Flip a coin for 2011 2014 and 2015, all were good teams. These teams were classic work hard and play together teams. I am not sure what it is but there is something missing from the 2018 team. I have been trying to figure it out sense week one but just can't put my finger on it. They have had games where it seems to come together but the next week they just seem off again. Hopefully it comes together and stays over the next couple of weeks.

2013 was my favorite team, with 2016 a close second. I disagree with the post that the top player from 2016 wouldn't be in the top 5 in 2013. 2013 broke all the records, had tremendous stats, but that was also a turning point in the program IMO. It was then that we stopped beating teams by 70+ points. You can compare scores since then, and there haven't been the high score blowouts. 50-7 is a very typical win. (and sometimes less). People outside the program seem to think that these more recent teams aren't as strong, or that there are more question marks. I think that is just the way coach wants it. Fact is almost all of those victories could have been so so much worse.
With the exception of a couple busted coverage surprises, and of course Cassville, the bulk of the points in 2018 have been scored against the Lamar JV squad during garbage time. Coaches put them in and want them to experience the adversity of playing against more mature and sometimes more talented personnel. Lots of times they hold, and sometimes they don't. There have been instance where the JV squads dominate as well. People talk about it all the time, but it is a true luxury to be able to do that with your young kids, and a great way to build your program.
I don't doubt for a second that the lower final scores (overall) have been intentional!
Depends on if you consider my typing formal or informal! Is funnest a word Peter???
2016 is a close second, but I think the 2013 team takes the edge, simply because of size and depth. Every game that year (aside from the CJ hitch and pitch loss) was won via turbo clock. Every. Single. Game.
Watching them turbo Mt View Liberty, aka "the greatest show on grass", at "The Nest", is probably my favorite game from the last 8 years.
Who was throwing to a D2 WR in Denton.. It was so much fun to watch. Couldn't throw the deep ball because of pressure, and couldn't throw short because you had a Bailey twin on each end with a 10' wingspan batting passes down. That was a Liberty team that had an NFL level player on it as well, still wasn't much of a factor. I would probably go with 2013 for that reason.

Was that also the infamous pizza game, or was that a different trip to Liberty?
I believe that you have your teams and years mixed up. The Strafford team of a couple years later was the so called "greatest show on grass." Their players came out on the field claiming as much. They had read too many clippings from the Springfield News and were just a bit cocky.
There are several in the discussion just since 2000. 2010 Penney was a monster. I'd put 2003 Centralia on top. 2005 Cameron also stacks up well.I believe the 2013 team was the best Class 2 team in Missouri of all time.
Anything is possible. I first wanted to use Calpreps as part of the formula to come up with the champion, so that limited me to 2003 forward. Next, after looking at the list of champions, there just happened to be 8 different schools. My thought was one team per, so Blair Oaks and Lamar had to be paired down. Blair Oaks seemed fairly easy on which team should move through, but had no real idea on Lamar. Perhaps I'll look into a 16 team bracket and include a non-championship team so that all Lamar (and Blair Oaks) teams get a shot.Would it be possible to put the same team, from 2013 and 2016 on your list. Because I believe that both of those teams are deserving of being considered. Either of those teams would destroy that 2009 Maryville team. After all, Lamar's 2009 team that went 1-6 in the Big 8 gave them all they wanted in the semifinals. Maryville picked up a supposed lateral pass and returned it for a TD to lead 14-7 until late in the 4th. Because of that play, Lamar was forced to go on a fourth down deep in their own territory late in the game. Maryville scored because of a short field to win 21-7. I think several of Lamar's 7 state championship teams could have beaten that Spoofhound team. I don't know much about any of those other teams.

The whole reason for the question was I'm tinkering with an idea to bracket Class 2 since 2003 Centralia. The 8 teams would be:
2003 Centralia
2004 Blair Oaks
2005 Cameron
2007 Lawson
2008 Clark County
2009 Maryville
2010 Penney
2013 Lamar
Got some work to do on a formula and weighting it. Calpreps, PF/PA, human poll on here, etc.
