Lamar vs Lutheran

Just don’t see Lamar winning unless if they change some things up.

Lutheran is big up front, fast and athletic. I will say there’s no way the Qb power or rushing Beshore up the middle will work. Lol

The coaching and play will have to improve from the past few weeks.

I believe they can, just looks tough from what Ive watched the past few weeks.

They will have their work cut out for them.
I was impressed with Richmond. Their last drive where a bunch of time ran off was a head scratcher! Great season Richmond!

I don’t put any blame on Lamar in regards to beating a few teams by less then they should’ve. It was play and coaching for me. They still at the end of the day beat 3 ranked teams on the way to state. It’s still a great season regardless of Friday’s score. I think it can happen, if any team can figure something out it’s Lamar. Their D will have to come up big like last year against St. Pius X.

Lutheran got Lafayette County on their heels early and it was a struggle the rest of the afternoon. Lutheran has a lot of talent and are really good up front. Lafayette County couldn’t match their size and quickness on defense. I was totally surprised how easily they handled Lafayette. Lafayette did make good yardage on qb draws and screens.

I watched it, Lutheran seems to score in bunches. It’s fast, I wonder if a team disrupted their flow and caused a few 3 and outs In a row just how well they would handle that. just a thought.

IF Lamar does anything very well outside of defense as a whole this year? It’s speed and athleticism.

Lafeyette definitely had the size advantage in this game. They were just outgunned on big plays on the road. Their only real solid plays were screens and pass interference calls lol. Lift For Life almost smacked Lutheran with a solid passing game. St. Mary's beat them with like 400 yards passing out of the spread as well.

If Lamar wants to win this game, they have to air it out. But I don't think that they have the speed in the skill positions to beat Lutheran unfortunately.

Lamar is a great team with a strong history and it's hard to root against them, but like @503_Maple said...they have 4 days to make major changes or this one will get ugly fast. DON'T #RUNTHEPOWER

I remember people saying the same thing about Lamar/Trinity a few years ago

Problems between us aside? I never met to truly disrespect Lutheran Saint Charles, and I am sorry if you took it that way. If any team can make a great coaching change. And players make adjustments on the fly. I could see Lamar being the team. It will totally depend on if they can In 4 days. They made adjustments on the fly last week against Richmond. That payed dividends.

Yes they did. I’m hoping Lamar can prove people wrong again. I’m sure just as likely as they are to unfortunately lose. They could win it too. That’s why you play the game.

I don’t see Lamar changing. Win or lose, they’ll stay true to who they are. Be the most physical team on the field. Run the ball and play defense. It is successful more times than not.

I think Lamar's best bet at moving the ball will be power running, in between and off tackle. Their OL will match up ok, maybe not in size, but in ability and execution. Don't like their chances of getting good pass pro, nor getting receivers open.
Defensively, similar. Lamar is good, not great, but good, up front, and has very athletic, aggressive secondary players. They may do ok vs run, but a missed tackle or fit on the perimeter, and LSC skill positions will hurt them. That RB is a home run threat vs anybody. Lamar can hang with them, for sure. I don't think LSC will be superior up front, but I think speed wins out.

Good insight Rufus. I think they match each other on speed. Enough that one isn’t obviously faster. BUT there’s a big caveat here, will Lamar be disciplined on D to not get hurt on big plays/tds. I feel if LSC has to work for the scores they get? Lamar will win. But I’ll be nervous all week lol

Lamar's top advantage in this game is experience. Many of their kids and coaches know how to respond in championship games and very close match ups. Lutheran typically blows their opponents out, has been blown out and/or has struggled to win the barn burners.

Lutheran apparently has 4 coaches on staff that were former NFL players which is an oddity in itself for a small school without very much winning tradition.

But Lamar's tradition and experience is definitely something that shouldn't be discounted.

In seeing both teams play in person and on film this year, I don't think that there is a comparison between the two teams speed. Lamar IS fast, but the scale definitely tips in favor or Lutheran on this one. Both teams ARE strong and physical up front and the scale tips to Lamar here.

Like any Championship game should be, both teams have a 50/50 chance in this one. Like I say all the time in championship games, predicting a winner is nothing more than choosing your favorite team. Don't call it predictions when you don't have true supporting information to forecast. Just say, Id like Lamar to win lol.

Congrats to Holt! St. Charles County represents well this year.
