Lamar’s Coach Bailey Resigned this Afternoon

How about he’s just tired and being the AD and Head Coach is a damn big job. What more can he accomplish as the HC? He’s earned his retirement from the gridiron.
How many class 2 programs have a freshman team. Lamar had one from 2010 until 2017. If it was just about having a freshman team they had the numbers to swing it but I am sure Coach Bailey and staff were more worried about doing what was best to get kids to play on Friday nights, which is why he started the freshmen program in the first place, to get more kids reps.
You seem to know a thing or two about Lamar. Got any insight why Coach Bailey is leaving? This seems very sudden to just resign like that
You always hear the saying that you dont want to be the guy that replaces THE MAN. This will be a great example... How can you follow that? There is a chance they move up, their schedule will be a little tougher with the change in crossover games, and like a lot of schools their numbers are down, from what they used to be. And, even if the new guy overcomes all of this and runs the table, many will just say THAT IS WHAT LAMAR HAS DONE FOR YEARS.
I agree, figured Coach Rod would have gone by now. Then when you look at his stats compared to national records...it might be too hard to walk away at this point. Changing class wont slow WC, but coaching eventually will. Lamar has had an incredible run in a short time. Hats off to Bailey.

Agree. To me he is this region's Brian Kelly and think he'd be successful at any D1 college who were to choose Roderique.
Maybe they are going 8 man and he did not agree since they were down on numbers?

I'm not saying that's why he left ...probably has nothing to do with it . I was just saying their numbers are down this year. Not going be fun to try to take over for him @ Lamar.

Macon has always had one, and a sophomore team. Not a huge deal IMO.
I don't think class 5 is much different from class 4 except for the fact that in many years class 5 will have a really good team like Staley or Jackson for Webb to content with that class 4 doesn't have as often.
Webb has won one state championship in the past four years. They've had teams to contend with in Class 4. Class 5 might have 2-4 teams that Webb would have trouble with (on some years.)
JRod + Bailey to Pitt? JRod to Pitt, Bailey to WC? Bailey following Beck somewhere? Bailey just wanting a change of scenery and making himself available to larger HS or small college schools, not even necessarily in the area?
Will be very interesting to watch play out. Can't imagine a coach having a greater impact on a small town than Bailey and his time in Lamar. I do not envy the next Lamar HC.

Webb wins Class 5 easily this year...and in many years.
Last year, Vianney probably beats them.
2017. Staley beats them.
2016. At least six teams in Class 5 beat Webb.
2015 Fort beats Webb
2014 No Class 5 teams beat Webb.
In 2013, LSW beats Webb.
Right on JN. 2015 was a stellar year for Class 5 too. I'd add Staley, Park Hill and Liberty North to the list of 2015 teams that would beat them.
So now the gold standard is not if you were great in your class, but if you can “Beat Webb City”?????
Not really...Webb has one team that made the top 10 from the last 10 years overall. Blue Springs had three.

Grapevine states it was health related purposes for why he stepped down. He’s not looking to coach.
Very true and we appreciate your acknowledgment. After-all statistically speaking for a 30 year period, the rest are starting the season to compete for who gets a crack at Webb. So you are spot on.
