The 91 UNLV Rebs were a juggernaut. That team was 34-0 and the
defending NC when they were upset in the final four in a rematch
of the year before. They scored 110 or more points a dozen times and
their closest game was seven points at #2 Arkansas in a game they
led by as many as 25. That's dominant.

In 90, they beat Duke by 30 in the semis. Duke won by 2 in 91.
The Rebs were a much more dominant team than this Wildcat squad who
also have a final four rematch.

UNLV was the greatest college basketball team I have ever seen. Definitely their starting 5 was the best in the last 35-40 years. That said, they did lose to Duke.

This Kentucky team has not been nearly as dominant as that UNLV squad and the game is a little different now. UNLV's players were far more skilled offensively. I do think in 2 areas Kentucky is better. They are definitely deeper and they are better on the defensive end. I'd take UNLV 9 times out of 10 over this Kentucky team. Kentucky is very beatable on an off night and they could have 2-3 losses at this point.

Having said all that I think they squeak by Wisconsin and blow out Duke in the championship game. 40-0 will make them arguably the greatest college basketball team of all time.

I was making the Duke--UNLV comparison the other day to the kids when they were on my about picking Wisconsin in my bracket.

I also mentioned two other huge NCAA Championship game upsets

NC State over top ranked Houston in 1983 ....Phi Slamma Jamma losing on a buzzer jam...WOW

8 seed Villanova over defending National Champion Georgetown in 1985 after Georgetown had owned them all year long in the Big East

and who could for get 11 seed LSU and Dale Brown knocking off #1 Kentucky to get into the 1986 Final Four.
LSU had lost 3 times that season to KU.

Should be a great weekend for college basketball.

Greatest of all time?

You just pointed out several weaknesses in their game and now they are the greatest of all time? LOL. Let's just say they went 40-0 and had a great season.

Why does Kentucky have to have an off night. They shot lights out against ND in 2nd half and arely won. Kentucky will lose to Wisconsin.

In my opinion you don't have to go undefeated to be the best ever. I can think of several teams than were better than this Kentucky team is, but the point is they are great this year and that is really all that matters. That being said, I'm still rooting for Wisconsin and Michigan State today. today.

Re: Greatest of all time?

They will not blow out Duke. Duke is the best team in the Final Four. They will prove that on Monday night.

Great game, but I'm glad Kentucky lost. If Duke goes down my weekend will be complete.

Good call.

I picked Wisconsin to win in a pretty good sized basketball pool but I really didn't think it would happen.

i don't have anything against Kentucky but coach Cal is an ass and I think It is good for the game that Wisconsin win.

Please beat Duke Badgers!

Re: Greatest of all time?

No doubt. I like teams with juniors and seniors.
This one and done nonsense I will never root for.

Re: Greatest of all time?

20 guys in my bracket and 19 picked Kentucky

Wanna guess who picked Wisconsin BEFORE the tournament tipped off?

This guy picked Wisconsin to beat UK, too. This guy also
picked Wisconsin to beat Iowa St. on Monday night.
