Kearney vs. Belton Thread

Winnetonka is decimated by graduation. I didn't see several Winn starters in the Kearney game that I saw in a earlier game. I didn't see their tailback and several of their starting defenders were not dressed out. IDK. It didn't help that the Winn team allowed Kearney to start drives on a short field, Not that it would've mattered. The Winnetonka offense has traditionally been average at best versus Kearney defenses and in recent memory the defense is what kept them in games with upper echelon teams. Sad to see such a sharp downward spiral. But it's HS football.
Tonka's D is as good as last year. Kearney is JUST that much better this year.

Scout. Experience tells me that other than the rare team like Savannah a few years ago that Kearney is going to represent C4 in that corner of the bracket and will more likely than not be a future opponent for Webb City if they get to the Semis. Add on that Kearney is the only program to beat WC in the playoffs multiple times and the only 2 bad class 4 losses in the last 16-17 years have been at the hands of Kearney. Even with Hannibal beating Helias the first time around I won't really be convinced it won't be a Kearney-Helias semifinal until Hannibal does it again.

I also pretty much assume Harrisonville is going to come out of their district. They have been challenged a few times getting out the last few years but at the end of the day they are there.

The teams from the East seem like the stock market. One year it is MICDS, then Cape Central, then Westminster, etc.

Bottom line when I hear Platte County, Smithville or someone else like that might challenge Kearney my immediate thought is yeah, the starters might have to play 3 quarters.

Wish I had the same confidence that you and others have in Kearney's offense.

I have never been a proponent of pass first, run second.

That kind of strategy comes back to bite you come playoff time against a strong D.

"If" K/Town is fortunate enough to get back to the semi finals, this is what their up against.

C6 - #1 Defense; Webb City
C5 - #1 Defense; Webb City
C4 - #1 Defense; Webb City
C3 - #1 Defense; Webb City
C2 - #1 Defense; Webb City
C1 - #1 Defense; Webb City

Did I mention that they know how to play offense as well?

While I do think WC and Kearney are on a collision course in the semis I think it is safe to say these are very different teams in 2015. I think both teams have shown a few warts this season and neither are as polished as they were at this time last season. I think it is going to fun to see these teams fine tune things here in the stretch run of the season.

Really? CBC would beat Webb. And that was a pretty easy drive Rockhurst had on their first possession, before their starting QB left the game. Five plays? WC has given up more than 15 points in four games. That is not #1 in C6, C5, and possibly C4. Obviously they are the #1 team in Class 4... But please...

By the way, where is Blue Springs?
Blue Springs is sitting comfortable at 1-5 this season. Someone on here said a while back that they are young and inexperienced. I don't see how that is possible. Last yeas Blue Springs finished 8-4 and was competitive in their losses. A school that size and with the long football tradition, I have never seen Blue Springs be young and inexperienced. I agree with Joey. They are sandbagging it until districts.

Webb City wins this game and every game
Which game? This year, maybe..but these teams are 3-3 versus each other. Kearney has to worry about making it past a quarterfinal first.
Think we have a few fishers of men on here...lol

Until CBC shows it's program can win year end and year out, they'll just be another wanta be Webb City.

Wasn't talking programs. Talking teams this year...CBC wins over Webb. They are ranked #1 in Missouri this year. The computer models show it. And Webb has given up 16 points or more in four games. I won't go into CBC's offense or their host of D1 recruits...but yes, THIS PARTICULAR YEAR, they are better. That being said, Webb is second to no one in terms of a program. We all know that.

Let the games begin boys. PC is no longer a contender, hindsight say's they never were. PC lost their gunslinger QB for the season. Unlike PC teams of the past, the PC defense is not Pirate like at all and more like teddy bears and pillow fights. All of Platte County's wins vs losing teams with bad defenses really means something (5-0 until last night). The PC defense was knocked out cold by a strong Belton offense that looks like they could give the bulldogs a game. The question becomes then, can the Belton defense stand in against Kearney?

Belton 26...Ray South 45. Kearney 53 Ray South 15.

Belton loses to Kearney by 20..at least.
